The American Red Cross in Suffolk, VA can be reached at (757) 539-6645. Officials say people who would like to help the victims of Monday's tornado outbreak can make a donation over the phone or by mailing donations to:
American Red Cross Suffolk Chapter: 157 North Main St., Suffolk, Va. 23434.

The American Red Cross says they cannot accept used goods. Officials with the charity say money is the most helpful so they can buy what is needed most.

More than 200 people are injured after a trio of tornadoes that ripped through southern Virginia. Governor Tim Kaine has declared a state of emergency for the area.

You can call the chapter in suffolk VA and volunteer to help I amsure they will need you. I dont know about suffolk But many shelters have places for animals now and there are usually many animal care volunteers in place before a disaster but they likethe Red Cross will need your cash donations to buy what they need. The red Cross is NOT a governments agency. 95 percent are volunteers just like any neibor. many have probably lost there own home and still come to help others. I most certainly do NOT agree with giving money to the Red Cross. The SALVATION ARMY doesnt have a problem with accepting anything people are willing to give inorder to help others in need.

Who is responsible for the animals affected by this? Is there a place that is taking donations for thier care? I know that the RedCross does not share the monies they receive with the animal care facilities and I would like to send my donations that way if possible.
