Jamie Arnold has called North Carolina home for 26 years. He was born and raised in Charlotte, where his passion for weather began. After high school, he attended UNC-Charlotte, where he double majored in Geography and Earth Science with a specialization in the atmospheric sciences. After that, he decided to continue his education by earning his Masters Degree in Earth Science, with a focus on severe thunderstorms and lightning in North Carolina.
He started in television as an intern at the NBC affiliate in Charlotte. Within six months, he was offered a position as a weather producer. He was responsible for behind-the-scenes forecasting and graphics. He also spent his time there honing his on-camera skills. In March 2002, Jamie was hired as weekend meteorologist for WITN.
From his childhood of spending sleepless nights waiting for the first flake of snow (which is something Jamie says he still does!) to watching Hurricane Hugo topple nearly every tree is his yard, weather has always fascinated Jamie. Eastern Carolina certainly has its share of forecasting challenges, and Jamie says he enjoys every minute he gets to spend tackling those challenges.
Jamie lives with his wife, Angie, in Beaufort County. You probably recognize them both as the couple for WITN's first Married in the Morning live wedding in November. Jamie says the answer is yes... they are living in wedded bliss!
