The Wilmington Blue Rocks drew a bases loaded walk in the top of the eighth inning, breaking a tie and charging ahead for an eventual 5-4 win over Kinston.

The K-Tribe’s Alex Castillo gave Kinston a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning with a bases loaded triple. Castillo drove in Nick Weglarz, Niuman Romero and Cirilo Cumberbatch. After Wilmington scored three runs in the top of the third inning, Jared Goedert gave Kinston the lead again with an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth. The single drove in Jason Denham and gave Kinston a 4-3 lead. Wilmington tied the score at four with a solo home run by Jeff Bianchi in the sixth inning. In the eighth inning, Wilmington had Joe Dickerson at third base with two outs. With Kinston’s Sung-Wei Tseng on the mound, Wilmington’s Josh Johnson, Matt Morizio and Wilver Perez drew three consecutive walks. Dickerson scored and gave Wilmington the 5-4 lead and eventual win. Tseng (0-1) took the loss for Kinston, giving up three hits and two earned runs in three innings. Aaron Hartsock (2-2) kept Kinston at bay from the bullpen, throwing three plus innings of one-hit ball for Wilmington. Henry Barrera struck out the side in the ninth inning for his first save of the season.

Kinston returns to Grainger Stadium for game three of the four game series Wednesday night at 7pm. Hector Rondon will take the mound for Kinston. Every Wednesday is Military Appreciation Night at Grainger Stadium where Military members and their family get in for free.
