Pitt Gets Past Surry 6-1 Save Email Print

Pitt Community College baseball kept its season alive Thursday with a 6-1 victory over Surry Community College in the second round of the Region X Conference Tournament.

Jake Brown (10-1) started and went six strong innings for Pitt to pick the win. The sophomore struck out 10 and allowed the lone Knights
run on four hits and three walks.

Josh Aldridge earned the save for the Bulldogs. The former J.H. Rose
hurler pitched the final three innings for PCC, giving up just one hit and a walk while striking out five.

Pitt got on the scoreboard first against Surry with a run in the fourth inning. The Knights tied the game in the fifth before the Bulldogs pulled away for good with three runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh.

Logan Isaacs powered the Dawgs’ offense with a 2-for-3 effort that
produced three runs batted in. Lonnie Chisenhall was 2-for-2 with two
RBIs for Pitt, and Austin Wright finished 2-for-4.

PCC (35-13), which lost in the first round of the double-elimination
tourney on Wednesday, will play the loser of the Louisburg-USC-Salkehatchie matchup at 10 a.m. on Friday. Sophomore Chip Wall (7-1) is the Bulldogs’ scheduled starter.
