Discussion: Strong and Severe Storms Winding Down....Nice Weekend... A cold front moving through eastern North Carolina has triggered strong to severe thunderstorms across the region. There are reports of trees and power lines down in Jones county where there was a Tornado Warning earlier on. Through the evening...showers and thunderstorms will move off the coast...as a cold front presses through the region. Drier and cooler air will follow for Friday into the weekend...with highs in the mid and upper 80's and lows in the 60's. Click here for the latest Drought Monitor Map. TROPICAL UPDATE: There are no tropical cyclones at this time. Click here for the WITN Hurricane Tracker. FORECAST Tonight: Partly cloudy...scattered showers and thunderstorms. Low: 69-74. Rain Chance: 30%. Wind: W-NW 3-6 Friday: Partly Cloudy...Isolated T-Storms. Rain Chance: 20%. High: 85-89. Wind: W-NW 4-8 Friday Night: Mostly Clear...dry...pleasant. Low:64-68. Wind: Calm. BEACH FORECAST: West winds at 10-15 mph.. The seas will run 2 to 3 feet along the beaches and about 1-2 feet along the Albemarle and Pamlico Sounds.
