Republican governor's candidate Pat McCrory is slamming his Democratic rival for supporting a policy that allows illegal immigrants to attend state community colleges.
There's only one problem: Lt. Gov. Bev Perdue has the same opinion as McCrory on the issue.
Perdue has said that she opposes the policy, supported by Gov. Mike Easley, that allows illegal immigrants to enroll at state community colleges who are 18 years old and high school graduates.
McCrory said in a statement Friday the Easley-Perdue administration is wrong to support the plan.
A spokesman for the Charlotte mayor did not immediately respond to a call seeking an explanation about the discrepancy.
