Teen Talks About Shark Bite Save Email Print

A | A | A

A teenager from Hickory, North Carolina is recovering after being bitten by what is believed to be a shark in Onslow County.

Matt Baker, 14 years-old, says he was swimming with friends in North Topsail Beach Wednesday afternoon and saw what he thought was a shark. Baker says, " I looked I saw this big grey blob swimming about that time I heard people yelling shark, get out of the water. I tried to get out as fast as I could, as soon as I did I realized I got bit.

Matt spent the afternoon at Onslow Memorial Hospital where he received several stitches.

Matt says he will get back in the water, but will take a look at the weather first and scan the beach to make sure he doesn't see any fins sticking up.

Wednesday's suspected shark attack comes just one day after the confirmed shark attack at Atlantic Beach Tuesday.

In that case a 30 year old Greenville woman was bitten on the thigh and foot. That shark was estimated at 5 feet in length.
