Three people are now charged in connection to the oil spill that contaminated a creek in Halifax County near a waterfowl park Monday.

Dozens of wildlife in the creek were killed in the spill near the Sylvan Heights Waterfowl Park in Scotland Neck. Officials have now arrested David Alston, Anthony Daye, and Billy Dickens, all of scotland neck, for dumping oil from two above ground tanks.

Officials say the three men were draining the tanks to steal the metal.

Yes...total ignorance. The company had been closed for 15 years? For 15 years the tanks sat there with oil in them? I'm missing something here, could someone please help me?

Unbelieveable. Hopefully, they will recieve the maximum penalties the law will allow. I do not consider myself a tree hugger, but this stupidity must be punished. If we are fortunate enough, they will castrate these idiots so that they can't pass on their ignorance.

In order to comitte one crime they committed another. How stupid are criminals. Ok lets take them to court, and hopefully find them guilty. Now have them pay for the clean up, since they are stealing I will assume thay have no job. How 'bout based on the NC adverage income, they pay for the clean up. (28,000 per year), then you pay the cost of clean up plus wild life lost. Then you will be punished for steeling. I think 10 years for being stupid and 5 years for the crime.
