  • Obama blasts Bush's 'Nazi' comments

In this Friday, May 9, 2008 picture, Democratic presidential hopeful, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., speaks during a rally in the Memorial Quad on the University of Oregon campus in Eugene, Ore. Oregon is fertile ground for Obama, the self-described "change" candidate. The state that has led the way in everything from bike trails to assisted suicide is also the first to vote entirely by mail. Oregon's 2 million-plus voters began receiving ballots more than two weeks ago, and 22 percent have returned them, according to the secretary of state's office. The U.N. has agreed to send additional relief flights after
briefly suspending its operations Friday. It acted after Myanmar
seized two planeloads of food.

The government has only a few dozen helicopters and 15 transport
planes of its own to use in the relief effort. The plight of nearly two million survivors is expected to get worse over the next several days with heavy rain in the forecast.

An emergency coordinator with the International Rescue Committee
says in some villages nearly all the homes were destroyed and
survivors have virtually no clean water. He says the potential for
an even more massive health disaster grows with each passing day.
Diplomats warn the death toll could eventually exceed 100,000.

The American Red Cross has contributed $250,000 to relief efforts and is prepared assist the Myanmar Red Cross with additional aid and supplies, estimated at $1.25 million.

I have no problem donating money to help out, but I will not be making any donations to this cause. Why, because I think the military will be the ones who benifit, not the people. Like N. Korea.

I will not be making any donations to that country because I don't think America is in any position to be helping another country in need. When is American government going to stop caring more about others and begin to think more about their own. We are in debt over our heads, nothing is being done in any attempts to fix it but yet, we are asked to fork out even more money to help out other countries! Kind of stupid dont you think? I am having a hard enough problem holding onto my own money, I cant afford to giving it to others. Another thing is, this is one of the problems with America now, OUR money is being sent to other countries instead of staying in our own to fix what is wrong with America. Isnt this kind of defeating the purpose? Let's for once, stop worrying about others and begin to fix our own first! We are in no shape to be fixing other countries problems when we cant even fix our own problems!!
