Lord have mercy these people done started posting bible verses lol!! I have to admit prujudice will bring out some ugly stuff in people

Anon- thank you. I'm so sick of all the emails. I just want to go off when somebody says to me "I can't beleive you voted for a Muslim" or all the stuff about the pledge, ect. You are so right, check the facts. Brad has a sad life if he believes everything in email forwards.

Posted by: Anon Location: NC on May 9, 2008 at 03:02 PM
Brad- I would suggest that you check out how accurate the information is in those emails that your grandma keeps sending you. Obama himself has given the reason why he didn't put his hand over his heart during THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER (not the pledge). He was however facing the flag. He also took his oath using a Bible. A good 'ole Christian OT/NT Bible. Check your facts from now on so that others don't have to do your legwork for you.

Fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee (Genesis 26:24). My son, if you receive my words, and treasure my commands within you, so that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding, If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guards the paths of justice, And preserves the way of His saints. Then you will understand righteousness and justice, Equity and every good path (Proverbs 2:19).

I will never vote for someone like obama. This country needs change, just not his kind.

To claify my last comment...Only two Senators were elected President, and they both died in office. We have 3 still running. Doesn't sound good.

To Blog Refuter...A little trivia.. Only two Senators were ever elected President. We currently have three in the running. Doesn't sound good.

I'm confused how does everyone know how this preacher acted twenty years ago? According to a news report I read Obama stated that the man spewing the nastiness was not the same man he remembered many years ago. People do change and their thoughts and feelings do change. Also we all have in our life known someone who was less then sinless that does not mean that we should be judged by the same standard as being bad just because of someone we know. Yes he should have disowned him quicker then what he did once he heard his mouth but he was probably in shock at how the man had changed. So no brad I wasn't referring to the preacher incident as untrue. I was referring to the oath taken on the Koran was was untrue also the turning away from the flag refusing to say the pledge of allegiance was incorrect rumor as well as the incident occurred not while saying the pledge of allegiance but not putting his hand over his heard during the national anthem in which he did sing though.

Brad, you know, my grandmother had the same thoughts of possible assassination in the case that Obama becomes President. She said she couldn't live with it on her conscious. Her daughter in New York had already voted for Senator Clinton and was encouraging her to do the same. Her daughter in Texas was encouraging her to vote for Obama. With hopes of change, my grandmother secured her vote on May 6th. I shared the following with my family, and I wish to share it with you all. None of us is naive. We know racial relations haven't improved to the point where some self-conscious person will not have thoughts of assassinating a black President; however, Senator Obama knew what he was getting into when he started the campaign. He's agreed to accept the challenge, so none of our consciouses should be affected by anything that happens to any President once he/she is elected unless we were the ones involved in the act. Security is supposed to be sufficient. Reject politics of fear.

The Rev. is an idiot and so were the people behind him jumping higher every time he said the G.D. word. No God fearing people use that word or listen to the garbage coming out of his mouth! As far as Obama is concerned he sat in that building for 20 years and never heard this idiot say his racial slurs? I'm missing something here........

ok Brad; you may put down my pit bull's and dobies..... but i must say i agree with you 100%. nice work

Posted by: Brad Location: Greenville on May 8, 2008 at 09:29 PM
So I was dreaming when I saw rev. wright screaming gd America. I was dreaming when I saw obama turning away from the American flag. Questions still not answered. Why? Because you can't or you refuse to because you're scared of the possible fact that this individual is not what he claims. But you know people, what really scares me is the possibility that , if elected, he'll probably be assasinated, or an attempt made, within the first year of his term. If this comes to pass, we'll all be saying God help us.

Brad seriously quit believing rumors without first verifying their validity. The items you have raised came from an email that was sent from email to email thru forward most people believing it rather then verifying it. check snopes on the internet they provide research regarding emails sent thru the internet whether there is any truth to them or not. http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/muslim.asp

I really do not think this is a christian/nonchristian race. Obama, Hillary, and McCain all have their faults just like each and every one of us. We just have to pray that God will lead this country in the right direction. Whomever becomes our president will need our prayers and support through the decisions that he or she will have to face.

Posted by: Brownie Location: Kinston on May 8, 2008 at 06:57 PM
Brad, a lot of people are asking the same questions. Just remember he's not the President yet. The American flag is a great symbol to many Americans, it should be respected by all Americans. It's a shame he received one vote.

Posted by: Citizen Location: North Carolina on May 8, 2008 at 05:48 PM
"Brad" it's obvious that you are just trying to find fault in Obama, even if you get answers to your questions then what??? So what's the big deal? Do this for me, just pray and ask God to give you the strength to deal with the things that you cannot change. Seriously!!!!

Posted by: Kathleen Location: Kinston on May 8, 2008 at 05:39 PM
Brad....what truck did you just fall off of??????

Posted by: Brad Location: Grenville on May 8, 2008 at 03:32 PM
I've asked obama supporters these questions before but received no answers, so let's try again. IF obama does not acknowledge the American flag or Pledge of Allegiance, what is his reason? IF he took his oath using the Muslem religious book, but attends a church that uses the Christian religious book, why is that? He's pro American but attended a church for 20 years that spewed antiAmerican messages, why? For a future US president, these are very important issues that could affect all Americans and our national security. obama supporters, IF these are true statements about your candidate, then tell us why he chooses this antiAmerican path(as many of us see it) and why you choose to follow. Just trying to understand obama and his supporters, that's all.

"Lavon" you go girl, christian mom is straddling the fence. A true christian knows that it is not her place to judge. As far as I'm concerned she's no better than the one that she's calling non-christian. Christian mom is too negative to be a true christian.

Posted by: Kat on May 8, 2008 at 02:29 PM
to Good possibility: How ya figure? I don't think there is a president that doesn't have attempts on his life? There's been quite a few attempts that succeeded. I do not see the difference between obama (whom I think is a sad choice anyways, but all of them are sad choices, he's just the one I would be most scared of) and anyone else who might be in that position. I don't see a difference. The race mess got old years ago and people need to get over it and move on. Nobody is against him just because of his race. Those that are would disgust me. I just don't like him because there are too many things he has done that scare me in a person that will lead the country.

Posted by: Good possibilty Location: Greenville on May 8, 2008 at 12:57 PM
I don't know if anyone has thought about this or if everyone is afraid to mention it but there's a better than average chance that if obama does win, he'll be assasinated within a year. If that happens, our country will be torn to shreds.

Posted by: wake up people on May 8, 2008 at 11:16 AM
It does not matter if he is pink, purple, blue, black or white, he can not do anything that congress will not let him, or any other president do. Everybody needs to wake up!

I tried to post this yesterday but it didn't go through, do here I go again...I don't try to get involved in politics because it gives me indigestion. I hate it when I get sick. Besides, anyone who can see clearly and has just half a brain cell can see what politics is really about: It's high school. Who's the most popular, who says the right thing, who spins the best. My dearly departed granny (born around the turn of the LAST century) summed up politics like this: The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Guess which side of that most of us are on?

Posted by: Lavon Location: Kinston on May 8, 2008 at 07:11 AM
You know im so sick and tired of these so called christians getting up here making claim and spreading their bigotry that they are GOD!!!. Your no christian becuase you can't see Obama being president because he's black and you know it, so admit and stop hiding behind some christian religion because just because you go to church every sun and read from the bible doesn't make you a christian. It's whats inside your soul that makes you who you are. Yes im from a christian family but I have to admit just from my observation that I can count on one hand the number of actual christians i've met in my life. Now at the same time I've met thousands of hypocrits that call themselves christians in church and then turn right around and get up here and spew racially charged statements. So Christian mom please stop coming up here talking about your christian values and learn what it really means to be a christian

Posted by: Anonymous on May 8, 2008 at 02:15 AM
Bob, well-thought out comments. Mary Stevens, do the math. Blacks are 22% of the state's population. Blacks comprised 33% of the state's Democratic voters in this year's primary. There were 1,583,849 Democratic voters of which about 522,670 were black. Since approximately 90% of them voted for Obama that equates to 470,403 black votes cast for Obama. However, there were 890,700 popular votes for Obama. Your assertion that Obama won the state of North Carolina solely by the votes of one demographic group has been proven false by showing that your stated hypothesis is mathematically illogical. As for the name issues, we have no credentials other than bigotry to vote or refuse to vote for someone based on his/her name because it's irrelevant to their character. The candidate could be called Curly Sue, but as long as they have something to offer that could move this country forward, I would vote for him/her. I know who I support, but to each his/her own. God bless the U.S.A.!

Posted by: Bob Location: Winterville on May 7, 2008 at 11:16 PM
To: "Wanted Crystal Ball": "Communism"! Welcome back to 1980. By the way, how did that USA vs. USSR Olympic hockey game turn out? The USA won, you say? Heck yeah, Go USA!! ps: Communism?! You're funny. Now, if only our U.S. companies would stop selling their souls to China... well, nevermind. (but Communism still has nothin' to do with Obama, other than being a ridiculously simple, outdated stretch of hysteria, you know, like JFK taking orders from the Vatican. How'd that one work out for you "back in the day"?)

Posted by: Rob Location: NC on May 7, 2008 at 11:13 PM
In our area, I have even heard this candidate referred to by members of a certain demographic group as a "messiah". I'm not a Christian by any means. In fact, I'm an agnostic. But, doesn't the Bible contain a passage that says something to the effect of "...beware of false prophets"? I just don't trust this guy. Something is wrong. Maybe high holy priestess Oprah thinks she can buy the White House, too. I fear for this country if this person is elected or appointed as President.

Posted by: Bob Location: Winterville on May 7, 2008 at 09:57 PM
Irony- there are many around here that sound un-American and it isn't Obama. Do some of you really believe everything that you erroneously hear?! I am in the wrong business, I should be selling used cars to you dupes. "Yes sir, this '75 AMC Pacer with 156k miles comes with a 7 year guarantee, I promise". To quote Mr. Dylan, "the times they are a-changin". Good luck competing in the new century w/ your head in the sand (hey, I even wrote that more cleanly than I thunk it). Oh, "Christiann Mom", I'm a dedicated Christian and voting for Obama. Won't get into a competition w/ you over who is the better Christian, I ain't that presumptious. But,what is clear to me is the last thing that this country that we all love needs is a whacko American/Christian version of the Taliban. Understand irony?

Posted by: obama 08 Location: greenville on May 7, 2008 at 09:02 PM
If those who think obama won by 90% of the black vote they are crazy. If you look at the 100 counties, in NC, the large cities, the counties where our largest cities from Wilmington to Ashville, and even Boone with universities and military bases all pulled OBAMA victories!!!! So many of our youth in colleges and universities have a lot to be proud of, because each of their votes counted. My daughter is at Appalachian, and she said that Obama fever is there, too. The rural counties, with smaller turnout pulled for Hillary, but Obama had the votes wheere they counted....I love it!!!

The biggest mistake W made was retaining Clinton's CIA Director...George Tenant and the Mineta ..the Transportaion czar. The civil service workers in DC are both Reps/Dems. They are cut throating, turf protecting, no holds barred protectionists. I have witnessed it first hand. Let's see...we have dumbed down society, destroyed our family values, empowered lawyers to rake in millions on frivolous law suits, and demand the government support those individuals who continually make bad decisions. IMO the Reps/Dems are the same.

Kat, you are right. Everyone has the right to their own choice of religion (or not). And to Christian Mom - you really don't need to put me on your churchs prayer list, cause it seems they teach you to think you have the right to decide if a person is Christian or not.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 7, 2008 at 03:09 PM
Rosebud, I think Bush has already brought this country to it's knee's. Now it's time to stand back up. Go Obama.

Posted by: Kat on May 7, 2008 at 02:48 PM
I really wish some people would NOT vote or make really BIG decisions based on religion. I could care less if you have or do not have religion. But voting based on it is just bad form. The top 3 chosen by media will all hurt this country. When will people learn to stand up for what they believe in and tell the government that a person should not HAVE to be rich to run for president. As long as we have greedy rich people winning presidency, we will have greedy government fingers in our pay checks. And the bible and religion is used by the government to control as far as I can tell. It's done a lot more harm than good. It gets more and more like a cult everyday. Yeah there will always be the few exceptions, not all people that are religious are bad. But neither are people that are non-religious, they just believe in science.

Devil Dog: nice retort, I appreciate a well-thought discussion. But,"Socialism/Marxism"(ha)- No way. Red-herring.I am con.OR lib. on varying issues, mostly moderate. To suggest no government involvement, total laissez-faire, risks anarchy, so the question is how much, right? We agree that all pols involved have blame: local, etc. How bout W.? I am eating lunch and have no stomach to defend Slick Willy. I wish he waxed OBL years ago too. Post 9/11, 3000 dead, and W. calls off the dogs vs. OBL and starts Iraq fiasco on faulty reasons, and OBL goes on?And you brought up wasting money-Iraq!We also agree that people need to change their behavior as there are too many entitlements. But, will you be first to turn down medicare, SS, not drive down federal roads, (you know the "etc" part of your statement)? You work too hard for your money, like I, and pay too much taxes to not accept our (shrinking) piece of pie. So yes, entitlements should be reduced, but surely not all. Greyer than you stated.

Christian Mom- you don't sound very Christian. Let God judge.

Posted by: Rosebud Location: Lagrange on May 7, 2008 at 01:06 PM
Before my mother passed away {1994} she told me something, I will never forget it. She said , I won't live to see it but you will, she told me this country was going to go to it's knees. She was very smart when it came to politics. The United States has had it to good for to long. If you live here you know that. The working person doesn't stand a chanch! Until we get a poor working man or woman in office things arn't going to get any better. But, how many poor people can run for offices? May God save our country.

Posted by: Christian Mom Location: Ayden on May 7, 2008 at 11:58 AM
I wasn't "judging" anybody. Obama is not a Christian. He followed a "preacher" full of prejudice for 20 years. I have never and I repeat never sat in a church with prejudice as the topic discussed. God teaches us to love everybody. We all need to pray hard. If Obama wins we don't!

Posted by: DH Location: Greenville on May 7, 2008 at 11:40 AM
This is what I heard come out of Rev Wrights mouth during a news conferance, Obama says what he has to because he's a politician, I say what I have to cause I'm a pastor. 20 years of Obama listening to Rev. Wright and not believing in what he preaches, yeah right, thats a crock. May God have mercy on this Nation.

Posted by: White Person Location: Greenville on May 7, 2008 at 11:38 AM
The amount of ignorance and racial prejudice in these comments is astonishing. "NC didn't vote for Obama... 90 % of a certain demographic voted for Obama which should scare Americans." Seriously is this a joke? Obama certainly needs to lead our country with attitudes like this still running rampant.

Posted by: Devil Dog Location: New Bern on May 7, 2008 at 11:29 AM
To Bob...I see you drank the "Kool Aid". You blamed everyone except our State Legislators and the U.S. Congress. I thought when the Dems took the majority, they would solve the energy costs, medicare etc. They have done nothing. 4 Trillion dollars has been spent since 1964 on medicaid etc. with minimal results. Until people change their behavior nothing will improve! This war started in 1979 and nobody did anything about it. Our military equipment was built in the 1980's and before. Slick Willy had a chance at Osama and he showed how "gutless" he was in a time of crisis. If you like Socialism/Marxism,Obama is you man.

I am tired of all this religion bull! Who believes in god and to what extent. Somebody's name, and what they think it means. The color of skin. That isn't very christian like do you think. I don't think Jesus was judgemental when he died for everyone's sins. Enough said.......

If Obama or Hillary gets in office really people we will need Gods help. Do you really want to put a man in office that doesn't believe in America and won't put the American Flag in his office. Do you all really think he is going to do what he says he is going to do. None of the Presidents have done anything they say they were going to do. So, think long and hard before you cast your vote on Obama and Hillary. And yes I do vote for McCain because I am Republican and proud of it.And besides anybody with Hussein in his name would be the last person I vote for. First- would not vote for Teddy Kennedy. Will vote for Walter B. Jones. Second- interesting Cactus that you wish to go back only two years on Congress. What about the previous 6 years, when Congress, The White House, and yes, the Supreme Court (the Big 3) were all in one-party hands (Repub., but not true Repub., neo-con Repub.) Short memory, huh? How 'bout budget surplus to budget deficit under your neo-con.boys? Do you call yourself a fiscal conservative? I do, and Bush and his neo-con cronies ain't it. To your final point, and to quote a conservative Democrat that I can relate to- Harry Truman- "the buck stops here"! Obviously, this does not ring true when you try to duck reponsibility for your bumbling boy, huh? Would you give the same latitude to a Dem. president? Doubt it. That is your call and I may be wrong. But, as to my health and "teath", I'll take responsibility for me and my own, thank you. You very well may be right about term-limits for Congress though!

Posted by: Cactus Location: Strabane,NC on May 6, 2008 at 11:20 PM
Its great that we can place the rise of gasoline prices, food, mortages failures, border problems, my health, your health, your teath, and old age on one person (the President). What happened to the congress, thay have not done anything for over 2 years. Congress is there to control the president. I'll bet you vote for the same "good ole boy" every year. Example Ted Kennedy. Time to limit their terms same as the president.

Ummmm... upon review, my mistake. I would have voted for McCain in 2000 over the hapless Gore. Of course, in 2004 McCain was not an option as Bushchimp was an incumbent due to his and Rove's dirty-politicking against him in 2000. Since then, McCain sold the farm pandering to the neanderthal right of the once respectable GOP. Anyone but a repub. in 2008! Wake up and stop drinking the neo-con Kool-aid "real Americans". God bless the USA!

Anonymous from Martin County, great post! A person's name does not necessarily define him/her. However, if one was to google "the origin of the name Hussein", you would find that it is of Arabic origin meaning "good, small, handsome one". None of those words strike me as scary. If his mother knew of the Arabic language and decided to give him a name which she may have felt described him, why should we punish him or her? It doesn't make any sense. It's just a name. People, once again, I beseech you to do your research and become well-informed before posting. God bless everyone.

Perhaps the voters of the country we love, The USA, have finally had enough of lowest common denominator politics that you voters of the most disasterous administration in our history have brought. This current administration has crippled our beloved military, let Bin Laden go unaccountable, crippled our economy, let New Orleans rot, turned friend to foe, let our border become a sieve, and gas prices have tripled despite the promise he made in Iraq. Weapons of Mass Destruction? Been to the grocery store recently? I assure you that ole W. ain't. These people speak of Obama as "not ready" for the presidency; have you checked out W.'s resume? Daddy bailing his incompetent, inarticulate boy out time after time? Political slogans aside, it really is time for change. I would have voted for McCain in 2000 over Bush or the hapless Kerry. But,McBush has sold his soul to the Bush regime and belied his "straight talk express". "Real Americans" know that if you are in a hole to stop digging. Hello?

Congratulations to Barack Obama!! "Informed" of Belhaven, I'm sorry, but I can't accept your argument about his middle name. His mother named him that and your mother could have named you the same if she so wished. Would I then call you scary? I think not; that would be ill-informed and ludicrous. Let us set aside our differences and create change in the world. We have to get over ourselves and do as Jesus would do. Jesus said let the one who has not sinned cast the first stone. Do any of us qualify? I dare to assert, probably not. To all who have faith in the Living God, let us pray for God to mold our hearts into a form more compatible with his. God bless the U.S.A.!

Everyone is intitled to there opinions, and that is what makes this country so wonderful. But, I don't think Obama can do any worse than what our current president has made this country. I need a change, that is why I voted for him. And as far as what comments that his former pastor has made, has anyone hear the saying " seperation of church and state"? And a persons name doesn't define him as a person. I am a struggling white, educated, lower income classed american, and I think Obama's ideas and vision is what I want out of a leader of my country. He is not sugar coating plans for this country. If our country wasn't in such a mess right now, it wouldn't take a overhaul to correct the problem. It took 8 years to make the mess and it will take longer to clean it up. Obama should get the chance to do it. OBAMA 08'

Mr. Obama is telling the voters just what they want to hear. Will Obama be able to overhaul the health care system, the cost of food, the gas prices, the war in Iraq, mortages, forclosures, the cost of oil per barrel, care for our solders, etc? Does this mortal walk on water?

Obama is telling voters what they want to hear. Will Obama be able to get his "Star Trak" foundation to work, will he be able to talk to the rulers of the middle east? Will he really overhaul the health care system, the mortage problems (short of bailing out the mortage owners), sounds to me as if he is trying to walk on water. Maybe he knows where th

Obama seems to present that he desires to create a world community. Kinda like Star Trek. But let me just say this. Our country was founded on on fundimental principals and if you don't like those principals then find another country to live in. This great country has grown and learned from its mistakes but real AMERICANS won't turn their back on our flag. I would suggest for everyone to read Revelations in the Bible. Everyone has choices to make in their lives and they has to live with them. Take a close look at the associations this canidate has chosen to make. By the way what is his middle name? Scarey huh. What about what his pastor has to say. Do you think that it may have an influence on him. I do. America needs change but NOT this kinda change.
