Teacher Charged With Having Sex With Student

A Jones County high school teacher is accused of having a sexual relationship with a student.

Shebana Rajput is charged with 8 counts of sexual activity with a student and one count of sex offense with a student.

Lenoir County deputies say the 9 sex acts occurred at the teacher's home on Aaron Johnson Lane in Kinston between March and May of this year.

The 35-year-old Rajput was a teacher at Jones Senior High School, where the 17-year-old boy was a student.

The sheriff's office says Rajput, who taught physical science, resigned last month.

After her arrest Monday, Rajput was put in the Lenoir County jail on a $100,000 bond.
