A pitch to attract business to Morehead City and Carteret County is focused on enjoying the water.

The Morehead City Family Boating and In-Water Boat Show is scheduled through Sunday at the Jaycee park downtown. Event organizers plan to set up about 50 boats in boat slips and in on shore exhibit spaces. There were 10 new boat slips built specifically for this event along with temporary piers.

Event organizers say a similar boat show in Miami, Florida attracts thousands of boats every year.
