An Elizabeth City lawyer and her husband were charged today with drug offenses after deputies say they found an elaborate pot growing operation in their garage.
Virlenys Palma, who according to the arrest report works for the Twiford Law Firm in Elizabeth City, is charged with trafficking in marijuana, maintain a vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substance and manufacturing a controlled substance.
Deputies also charged the woman's husband, Osmany Palma with the same counts.
Deputies say they searched their home after his arrest this past weekend in South Carolina. There officers say the man was found with 30 pounds of pot.
At the couple's home on Birdie Lane, deputies say they found what was left of an elaborate grow house in the garage.
The wife today posted $25,000 bond, while her husband remains in the Albemarle District Jail.

A Pasquotank County man was arrested in South Carolina for trafficking dozens of pounds of marijuana. He is now under investigation for allegedly manufacturing the illegal drug in his garage.
The home is on 122 Birdie Lane. Deputies say the owner, Osmany Palma is believed to have harvested weed in an elaborate grow house. Authorities say inside the home was lights, pipes, buckets and oxygen tanks. The tools needed to grow plants without sunlight.
Pasquotank County Sheriff Randy Cartwright says charges could come as early as Friday morning. Sheriff Cartwright says it is unclear how long the grow house has been there.
