Celebrities are forever being honored for something by someone.
A North Carolina biologist has named a newly discovered spider for musician Neil Young.
East Carolina University biologist Jason Bond has named a newly discovered trapdoor spider found in Alabama for Young. (The actual name is Myrmekiaphila neilyoungi.)
Bond says Young is worthy of the honor because he's been an activist for social and political issues.
Bond examined the spider in a collection at the American Museum of Natural History in New York where it was identified as a new species that's indigenous to Alabama.
Bond has also named a spider species for South Africa civil rights leader Nelson Mandela. He also named one for his wife.
Young was inducted into the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame in 1995.
