One person is dead and three people were hurt when an apparent tornado moved through central North Carolina overnight.

Guilford County emergency officials say a person was killed when a truck overturned in a parking lot near Triad Park west of Greensboro.

None of the three injuries appeared to be serious. One occurred when a wall collapsed at a distributing business. Officials are going through the wreckage now.

Forsyth County emergency medical services director Dan Ozimek says about a half-dozen homes suffered structural damage in the Clemmons area just west of Winston-Salem.

Ozimek says a woman and two children in one home had moved to the basement just before the storm leveled their home.

Forsyth County coordinator Michelle Brock says firefighters rescued five people because of flooding in Winston-Salem. She says high water displaced about ten people.

Davie County Manager Terry Bralley said four or five homes were severely damaged by the storm but no one was badly injured.
