The National Weather Service had the northern half of Eastern Carolina under a tornado watch Friday morning. That watch has been allowed to expire.

Throughout the morning, the National Weather Service issued tornado warnings and severe thunderstorm warnings for several areas.

There are no longer any active watches or warnings.

The counties that were under tornado warnings on Friday morning include Beaufort, Bertie, Chowan, Gates, Halifax, Hertford, Hyde, Paquotank and Perquimans.

The counties that were under severe thunderstorm warnings on Friday morning include Bertie, Camden, Currituck, Edgecombe, Halifax, Hertford, Nash, Northampton and Paquotank.

A viewer in Bertie County tells WITN he spotted a tornado on Early Station Rd. between Buena Vista and Hexalena, around 8:20 a.m. The viewer says did not see t any damage.

A strong storm system has been moving across the southeast since Thursday. It proved deadly already in North Carolina. One person died after a tornado touched down six miles north of Greensboro late Thursday night.

Stay tuned to WITN-TV and witntv.com for updates on the severe weather.

We were huddled in the hallways because they had a warning in our county! It was scary! We hate tornadoes. We're glad there's no more activity...for now.
