Atlantic Beach Causeway Construction Hurting Business Save Email Print

It's supposed to make the Atlantic Beach Causeway prettier and more accessible. But for one business, the construction in the traffic circle there is hurting their bottom line.

Staff at Davis Beachwear say that many beach goers take the detour and never make it back to the shop. They just simply choose another parking spot. But officials say the infrastructure of the circle should be complete by memorial day. Construction began last fall after the end of the summer beach season.

There have also been requests for additional parking spots in the area. We're told that some private landowners will open their lots. Whether or not you'll have to pay for that parking remains to be seen.

No. what's hurting business on Atlantic Beach is the fact that it's been privatized. No more affordable, local owned hotels to stay at. Yes, the big money has moved in and will not support the old beach shops and other tourist sights. They all sold out to people with money. I say let them have it. You won't catch me at the beach any longer I won't pay the price to the big money to vacation there. Nothing left there but older people and out of state plates. Certainly not for me.
