Wilmington police have arrested a man suspected of raping a 95-year-old woman inside her home in the city's historic district.

The Star-News of Wilmington reported Thursday that 41-year-old Brian Anthony Reavis was arrested Wednesday night. Charges against Reavis include rape, kidnapping and burglary. He is being held on $1 million bond at the New Hanover County jail.

The woman was attacked April 12 as she picked up a newspaper on her front porch.

Police said the man pushed his way inside and demanded money. The woman gave him $20 sitting on a table. Then the man forced her upstairs to get her purse, raped her and beat her, severely injuring her eye.

Neighbors rallied to help the woman after the attack. They distributed hundreds of posters offering a money reward with a police sketch of the suspect.

There are no word that i could say to the elderly woman. My grandma has been gone 11 years. And I have always always been one of those people who wouldn't say "i would do this or i would do that" because you don't know what you would do in someone elses shoes. But i do believe if it had been my grandma, and my family could have gotten to the man first they would have found him in a field stinking.

Save our tax dollars, this trash isnt worth it... Why waste our tax money on a worthless creature that would do this to the elderly or children. After doing something like this, they should be considered worthless on this planet and done away with for good. They dont deserve to plea before a judge or have the chance in a million years for redemption or freedom. Disgard them like the human trash they are and let this lady have her justice. And knowing that this human waste will never have another chance to do this again. Capital punishment is the way to go with human garbage!

If convicted we have another candidate for the needle. We're obligated to follow fair process, send vicious predators off to God for final judgement, and protect God's good and innocent children here on earth. When will you find the courage to act decisively and help make this happen?
