Teacher And Coach Charged With Assaulting Two Female Students Save Email Print

Officials say a New Bern High School teacher and girls basketball coach is charged with assaulting two female students.

Phillip Beeson, age 53 of Bridgeton, was arrested Monday afternoon. Police say they were notified in late February by the Craven County School Board of possible inappropriate behavior by Beeson.

Reports indicate Beeson was suspended with pay, but there is no word on his employment status at this time. As of late Monday afternoon, he was still listed on the school's website.

Beeson faces two misdemeanor counts of assault on a female. A court appearance is scheduled for May 16.

Investigators need to take the time to investigate his history as a teacher, and see why he was forced into resignation from his last teaching job at EFHS, and figure out why he was even even eligible to teach again after the way things ended there.

Well he must have taught well. 4 New Bern High athletes were arrested recently for breaking into a beer truck and stealing 15 cases of beer, among other stuff. Of course their families have the right connections so the kids are still playing sports and likely won't get in trouble. New Bern high is a pitiful place.

Its a pure shame we can not entrust the ones who are suppose to be teaching our children these days.
