A North Carolina Wesleyan student has been arrested and charged with inciting a riot after a disturbance on the college campus yesterday.

Rocky Mount police say they got calls yesterday about a group of ten or more people, gathered in a parking lot in the rear of the campus. One caller said the group was speaking loudly and gesturing as to provoke a fight. There were also reports of a gun in one of the two vehicles involved.

Police say when they got there they were unable to find any of the people or vehicles.

After an investigation, police say they were able to identify two of those involved.

The student, Joy Anthony, is charged with one count of inciting a riot and delaying of a law enforcement officer. Another suspect, 22-year-old Vertron Dickens, is being sought on a charge of possessing a weapon on school grounds and another of discharging a firearm in the city limits.

Police say Dickens, who is not a student at Wesleyan, fired the gun in the parking lot of a nearby shopping center.
