An Oregon man who claims he is pregnant sparked skepticism from those who live around him.

In a first-person article for April's Advocate magazine, Thomas Beatie says he is five months pregnant.

In the article, Beatie says he used to be a woman. He says he had breast reduction surgery and took hormones to become a man, but he says he kept his female reproductive organs.

Now Beatie claims he is expecting a little girl.

Neighbors of Beatie and his wife, Nancy, say they haven't noticed any baby bump. They did notice a television crew following them around, but they haven't seen him for days.

People who work next door to Beatie's t-shirt shop greeted the news with laughter.

Beatie told a Portland, Oregon television station that he was unable to comment on his situation for a week and a half.

The Advocate, based in Los Angeles, California, is a magazine focusing on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues.

As a foot note, there has been no confirmation that Beatie is pregnant and next week is April 1st.

what a person does should be their own right. but to wash their laundry in the public eye is wrong.. I am a intersexed female born both genders.. I am not giving my name or who I am but, I know that the genetics between male and female is very close. and those who says god this and god that, well wake up!!! its their life they have to answer to this so called god...and how can god allow for mistakes? well think about it I am no mistake and I am very happy for them if that is what they desire..

Am married have been 4 18 yrs on the 14th of this mth. Both of us r our "orig" sex, male, female. 1 child beautiful dgthr, 17 at her senior prom. I had 1 miscarriage b4 my baby girl,& 1 after,wanted "1" more child but I had 2 have an operation (hyster)that made that impossible.I feel 4 the wife who can't have children(she had a hyster) if they want a child go 4 it,if the child is born with, & shown love, in "todays" world,who's the big loser here. You've got parents that don't even want the kids they have, I no a local girl here that has 4, she's 27, & doesn't have even 1 of her kids. Get a grip, get a life, these 2 people are trying to start thier family, take a good look in your own backyard b4 you start casting stones.

To Anon. God does NOT impregnate Men. She is NOT a man. She is a woman. Her facial characteristics or other alterations does not stop who She really is. I also do not see how they allowed this marriage unless the court did not know that she was biologically still a woman. Therefore the county they married was two lesbians. I have no issue with a woman wanting to be a man that's their choice even though I think that God doesn't make a mistake when he chooses your gender. But if you decide you feel like your a man then go thru the whole procedure otherwise he is just making a mockery of the thousands of people that really do fight with the fact they feel they are another sex and take the appropriate actions to do so. I'm quite sure that he has does not have the male organs like is claimed I read a documentary that talked about the process and no respectable doctor would give a transgender male organs but leave some women organs you have to go all the way or none.

I don't care that the guy had a sex change but if you decided that you wanted to be a man...then be a man! This guy is CONFUSED!!! I think that it is excellent that this man is having a baby. Just because he is transgendered does not make him any less of a man. All of you people talking about religion - If there is really a GOD, and this is a sin, why in the heck would GOD "impregnant" a man? God does not "grant us gifts of having a baby". A Baby is concieved of a sperm and an egg. All I have to say is CONGRATULATIONS on your new baby girl!

I saw this couple on Oprah yesterday. He had a sex change (from woman to man). He has a male (part) but he still had (her) womb. Confusses the heck out of me. He's married to a woman, and after watching this show I really liked this couple. Hey go for it.

I have a comment about the whole God thing. God put Adam and Eve hear naked but not Naked as you are thinking. He put them here naked with out sin. They didnt realize that they were naked until they did wrong with eating the apple. That is what he meant by Naked. Also God creates us how we are, not to be altered by Man I mean His word says He know us before we were here. We were in his persences. I am saddened by this story. I believe this man or women has no idea what they are. A women who changes themselfes to a man and then gets pregant. Why not be a women then. Children are a gift from God nothing to be mocking at. Everyone needs to find their peace with God. This is a disgrace to both genders.The other comment I have is that God does not intend for us to be sick,cold,straving or anything hurtful. A biological male does not walk around with female reproductive organs, I just hate that they are saying it man having a baby when its really a woman. You can change the physical all you want but you still have what you were born with underneath and thats all the making of a WOMAN! When a TRUE biological MAN has a baby then that will be something talk to about, this is just someone taking the media outlet to get attention for something real WOMEN do everyday! God did create us naked, however in studying the bible it does not say that we were created fat, actually if man consumed the diet that he was provided, he wouldn't have been 'fat'. and as far as sickness prone, again... if man had stuck to the original diet plan... this PERSON was born with both male and female sex organs. this PERSON was not a 'mistake' and the only reason this PERSON is getting rich is because people like us don't have anything better to do with our time! j... you do know that god did not originally create man in the womb of a woman, nor did he ever intend for man to wear clothes. the only reason the child will be tormented is because of the 'christians' who are so busy judging everyone (even though that's not our job)and teaching their children to judge. light... i concur!

Aimee Aimee Aimee....God did not put anyone here Fat, people grew up and either their parents let them eat a bunch of junk food or they grew up and didn't really live a healthy lifestyle. And as far as the naked part, I don't know what to say about that one, I mean it's kind of impossible to have clothes on inside of a woman's stomach, and I'm sure it would be a lot harder to push the child out during labor too, if they had clothes on them. And when gay couples or whatever they want to be called consider having kids, do they think at all about what this child is going to go through in school, what all the kids are going to say. The child will be tormented.

What makes this guy any worse than any of us? The fact that he's different?? Oh, Heaven forbid anyone be different. And the audacity of those of you who are calling him an "it". The guy is really not that crazy. If you do a web search on his name you can read the article that was written for The Advocate. It describes the steps that he and his wife had to undergo to make this happen. He didn't do this for media attention (although that might be a bonus), he and his wife really wanted a child and she could not have one due to a hysterectomy over 20 years before. Unfortunately, this article was written as one suitable for Enquirer, to show the "oddity" factor. Read the story in the Advocate and you might harbor a different opinion.

Regardless of what any of you say, this he/she/it got exactly what they wanted...MEDIA ATTENTION! This story is something for Enquirer Magazine and WITN and all those other news stations and newspapers fell right into line of desperation for a story. When your desperate of attention, whats better than to turn to the media for it. They are willing to air anything for ratings.

This is really some sick stuff. Here I am sitting here 4 1/2 months pregnant. Here comes a man claiming to be pregnant. If he use to be a woman and now he's married, who's the daddy? That's really funny? I think he needs to admitted somewhere, cause it's something really wrong with this picture.
