Surveillance video helped nab three suspected vandals who went on an Easter crime spree in Carteret County.

Deputies say all over the county residents woke up Sunday and Monday to find someone had shot out their vehicle windows. They found golf balls and other metal balls inside.

Two teens and a 41-year-old woman are now in jail. William Smith, Bonnie Moran and Matthew Chisenhall are charged in excess of 20 counts of injury to property.

Deputies say the trio drive around the county, shooting metal balls and golf balls with sling shots. Most of the victims were chosen at random.

The spree occurred between during the overnight hours of Easter Sunday and Monday as the trio drove through neighborhoods in Brandywine, Newport, Mill Creek, Sea Gate, and Morehead City.

Authorities believe additional charges are possible as additional victims discover their damage.

This is for Angry...no where does it say there is a custody battle. Where did this information come from? What professional experience or information about this family gives you the right to make that judgement call?

How dare anyone who has ever been in the home of Moran make a negative comment. For the 10 years that she spent as part of the community, not only did she worship her children and husband....she also extended her friendship to the extended family and their friends. There are not many adults and children who have not been in her home to visit, talk, watch a movie or have a meal that she has prepared. How quick we forget the positive in a person. If there is anyone out there who hasnt made a mistake you should feel abnormal and out of place in society.

just for everyones information.. moran is a wonderful mother to all of her kids! and yes, everyone is old enough to know right from wrong. i know the three and this is a bad choice they made but one wrong choice does not make a person!

to EXT-Family....you are obviously very young too. No ADULT would say, he's ONLY 19 and doesn't know right from wrong. Would you have done it if you were PERSUADED? C'mon...when you have a 5 yr. old child of your own who was put in danger by this nonsense, then let's see if you say "get a life"! I have a life and a beautiful family and my life and entire spring break was rudely interrupted by your so called brother. Shame on you!

Posted by: Anonymous on Apr 10, 2008 at 04:38 PM
I live close to the women that did this and I have watched her and her husband spend a lot of time with their children. They seemed to be great parents then the teenagers were always at their home and things went down hill fast. People so quickly forget that making your kids and their friends your own causes so much damage. Children need us to be role models not their friends. I tell my children you may not like me but you will respect me! It is so sad to see the way such a beautiful family has fallen apart over poor choices.

One of the boys is close enough to be my brother...He has NEVER been in trouble before. So you people that say he needs to go to prison should get a life. He should have to pay and will Im sure. I believe there should be consequences for what hes done. But hes a 19 year old "boy" who was persuaded by an older woman. Who in my opinion needs to get her own life and stop hanging out with people the same age as her daughter! And in the matter her daughters house is one of the vitims also. So I suggest you rethink what you have to say!

Posted by: local Location: mhc on Apr 1, 2008 at 09:13 AM
This people new what they were doing and should have to pay out of there pockets for everything they did. I know one of this boys and this is not his first time in trouble. Community service is good for the first time you get in trouble , not the 3rd or 4th.

She has 5 beautiful children of all ages and they are being affected by this nonsense. Pray for the kids. What sane parent would do this to themselves and imagine the humiliation the children are going through. Regardless if she is going through a a custody battle, she wasn't thinking of what's best for her kids now she will have to face the music.

Patty, you wake up at 3am to glass all over you thinking someone is trying to break in and kill you and your child like ANGRY posted and then see if you think they just deserve community service.....some people!!!!! WOW!

Posted by: ANGRY Location: MHC on Mar 28, 2008 at 07:24 PM
As a victim of this crime spree, I say they should be put in prison. My husband, daughter and I awoke to glass shattered all over us as a golf ball came through our master bedroom window at 3AM. The glass just missed my daughter. We were traumatized and violated. Couldn't sleep at all for 72 hrs. They are scum. The mother should lose her kids as she is in a custody battle now.

cactus your comments are certainly contridictive of themselves...i don't understand where you stand on this...sounds to me from your note below on 3/27 that you don't see any problem with it..i find it very unacceptable, especially for grown adults i would be ticked if they did that to me, i would have to claim on my insurance for their stupidity...that's what is wrong with country, too many dumb tails everywhere !!~!

Posted by: Cactus Location: Strabane,NC on Mar 27, 2008 at 11:57 PM
To Patty; I'm not trying to put you down. Just trying to get you to understand you comment. If you feel so strongly you will be posting their bond or bail, and caring for them until their trial.

Posted by: Cactus Location: Strabane,NC on Mar 27, 2008 at 11:01 PM
To Patty: What does back ground have to do with these guys destorying property? Community service? No. You did not mention that they should pay for the destruction. These guys are old enough to know right from wrong. If not now is the time to teach them.

Posted by: Cactus Location: Strabane,NC on Mar 27, 2008 at 10:36 PM
Man, you can't even have fun any more with out getting busted.

Posted by: ? on Mar 27, 2008 at 10:47 AM
The information about children came from someone who know the situation better. She does indeed have children that she she should be concentrating her time with rather than with these teenagers. I am ashamed to say that I know her and I feel that she should be severely punished. These acts could have caused serious injury if someone had been near their targets.

Posted by: Patty Location: Harkers Island on Mar 27, 2008 at 09:51 AM
They do not know the background of these kids (excluding the 41year old bc that is ridiculous) so why should they be put behind bars if this could just be a random act of stupidness like most teenage boys do. I say give them an excessive amount of community service!

Posted by: Anonymous on Mar 27, 2008 at 09:08 AM
I didnt read anywhere in the news report about her having children. Where do you all get the extra information?

Posted by: wanda Miller Location: kenansville, nc on Mar 27, 2008 at 08:46 AM
I work in corrections. How in the world can vandals explain their crimes. For example, an inmate conversation is like "hey, man what'cha in for"? the reply "hey, I stole golf balls'. I hope the inmate is incarcerated in a secure setting.

If I had a Mother like this woman I definitely would NOT CLAIM her to be....judging from the comment below me she has children of her own so I can't help but feel sorry for them having a Mother such as this woman....poor kids hope their father makes up the loss!

Posted by: David Location: Manteo on Mar 27, 2008 at 01:33 AM
As if we dont have enough crime going on in this country, we have to deal with ignorant people such as this! Be rid of them! No trial! No bonds! No less then 20 years!

Comment Edited.

One must ask, where were her children while she was joy riding with these teenagers?

Posted by: william Location: carteret county on Mar 26, 2008 at 07:00 PM
I hope the carteret county court system puts these jerks in jail for a long time. Its getting ridiculous the types and amounts of crime running rampant in our society, court system-take a stand and put them behind bars with NO BAIL.

Get a life!! If they had that much time on their hands, they need to be working or doing something else constructive. And why was there a 41 y/o woman participating w/them.....WOW!!

Posted by: Mr. Bob on Mar 26, 2008 at 02:58 PM
They need to be sent to prison without trial.
