The death of a Martin County Man had now been ruled a homicide. Investigators who have been working on the case of the past two days say they received the official word Saturday.

Detectives say they sent the body off for an autopsy which determined that 47 year Tyrone Lee Perry died of a single gunshot wound to the head.

There's no word about any leads or suspects in the case.

PLEASE EVERYONE..Dont give up on this family and for the sake of god, dont think this is forgotten or that this family will give up because we wont. We are working very hard (in both the VA and NC) areas to get this case resolved. So just because you have heard from us, please dont think its over. WE WONT STOP UNTIL JUSTICE PREVAILS...and it will. We will see to it by using All available resources.

To all the people of MC and surrounding cities and towns, please don't think that the family has given up. We are working as hard as possible to not only have closure for this family concerning Mr. Perry's (Tyrone) death, but others as well. We are asking anyone with information to please come forward. We are committed to getting this case solved.

Its obvious. It is forgotten. So Sad

Posted by: Family member on Apr 30, 2008 at 05:43 PM
They may have forgotten but we sure havent. This case will be solved. This family will not have it any other way. As long as we stand together, we know that we will have closure at some point. If the person/persons who did this thinks its over...think again

Posted by: TB on Apr 29, 2008 at 06:47 PM
Don't think they forgot, they just don't seem to have the skills needed. That is obvious with other cases that go unsolved around here.

Posted by: wendy Location: mc on Apr 29, 2008 at 05:17 PM
what is going on with mr perry case,or should i say have the detectives just for got about it like all the other cases here in this county.

Posted by: x Location: washington on Apr 27, 2008 at 10:20 PM
WITN states...We do not post comments that accuse a person of a crime in which that person is not charged. There were post that did accuse the murder victims employer directly. Good to see WITN is following their own posting rules. It's terribly wrong to malign a person's name as has been done here.

We will review the postings. If you have a specific comment you would like us to look at, please e-mail desk@witntv.com.

Yellow Gate, It seems as though you have information that can really help us solve this case. I cannot figure out your clues because I don't live in NC, however I would really love for you to either contact me or the FBI.

Posted by: Kelly Location: NC on Apr 21, 2008 at 10:02 AM
DON,T trust your local.contact your FBI let them no whats going on.

Posted by: ler Location: MC on Apr 21, 2008 at 12:04 AM
It not hard to see the facts. Please just arrest the man. To Tyrone's boss. IF you were so concern. Why didn't you show up to the funeral or wait.HUHH? Whoever killed him and family, You might as well turn yourself in or your time is coming.

Posted by: Family on Apr 20, 2008 at 12:11 PM
Yellow gate??? I dont live in NC and therefore my knowledge of "a certain person's history" is very limited. Thats why I need as much information as you or anyone may have to make sure this case is solved. If you can help, pleassssse let us know or let the local law enforment know whats going on.

Posted by: yellow gate Location: Hamilton on Apr 19, 2008 at 02:12 PM
Again I say, just look at a certain person's history and you will be headed in the right direction. The person who pulled the trigger probably went out of the farm the back way. Not everyone knows there is another way out. Many people around town here have seen just how mean this man can be.Time will tell.

To Anonymous from Martin County- I don't know the Hardison Family and personally I don't care to know them or anything about their loss, however, I beg of YOU to go to the police if you have any knowledge of this crime, or any information pertaining to this case. I think you may have something important to tell them that could help this case tremendously. Again I'm asking you to make the right choice.

I agree with you on the fact that Mr. Perry's family will need to be cared for. Also, I have read through the post constantly and feel that you are trying to send a very valuable message. I took think the family should look at the law enforcement involved with this case. Im not sure whats going on (other than some rumors) but what the family need at this point is facts. If anyone thinks this will fade with time, they are wrong. The Perry family intends to use all resources available in order to find Tyrone's killer and will do so, Im sure.

greeting in the name of ALLah.The cousin of Tyrone. It just break my heart to think that someone or anyone would do a crime such as that to another person.Murder.Question is why? the tyrone that i new and love was a humble,an quiet compose man.when i ask the question why ,was this we be the victim of racism.to my family i love you and we must keep prayin to allah(GOD)that all humans have the right to live, but to have another to take it away.peace be unto us.

In the name of Allah, most gracious most merciful.I,m a cousin of tyrone, who has been so deeply sadden by his lost.It is essential that If the general public no anything please for the kind of mankind inform your law enforcement.

We all know that no money amount will bring back a loved one. The Hardison Family knows that just as well;they had a tragic lost about a decade and ahalf ago losing their youngestson!!!! This was murder and I am not pointing fingers but I think someone knows something they aren't telling. Money will not bring Mr. Perry back; but he has a family that has to be looked after and it happened on his job!!!!!!!!!!!!! I personally hope that the public will stay on no matter how long it takes to it is solved. His blood is on someone hands and they will pay one day . I know you cannot just walk on their land so all there is left to do is keep on law enforcement!!!!! This for the editor I wrote one timebefore and I had to mant facts I'm sure for you to print. I toned it way down I am going to leave my e-mail address this time. I left it around 4-12-08. I named the time of call named names etc. I told you I d

Posted by: Cynthia on Apr 16, 2008 at 06:36 PM
To Friend of the Hardison Family/Anonymous- It's obvious that you are one in the same or very closely associated, so I'm asking you, Are you withholding information from the police, because you are afraid that a law suit will occur. That seem to be the case to me. I think you should go to the police dept. and tell them all you know, because after reading your responses, I think that you know more than you are sharing with the police, and you are trying to justify your actions on this message board.

Posted by: ANONYMOUS on Apr 16, 2008 at 06:08 PM
To Anonymous- A monetary settlement can never bring back a love one nor can it compensate for it, but it makes people feel a lot better knowing " I GOT YOU WHERE IT HURT MOST, IN THE POCKETBOOK." IT'S NOT GREED AT ALL, IT'S CALLED JUSTICE.

Posted by: Anonymous on Apr 16, 2008 at 04:45 PM
Can a monetary settlement compensate for the loss of a loved one? I really dont understand the point behind sueing someone unless its just out of greed.

Posted by: Friend of the Perry Family Location: VA on Apr 16, 2008 at 12:39 PM
To friend of the Haridson family: First let me begin by recapping your statement: "big shocker, you want money". Let me assure you money is not an issue for me. However, justice is. And whose going to provide for his household and feed his children now? Are you going to take on that responsibility? I didnt think so. Please dont minimize this incident or what may be the outcome. What you dont realize is when Tyrone Perry's life was taken, it not only affected him, but also affected those who depended on him for everyday survival and that alone is good enough reason for them to be compensated. My question to you is, why do you care so much who (if anyone) gets sued???Hmmmm...This not about whether someone is sued or not. Its about making sure the Perry family gets the justice they deserve--whatever that includes.

Posted by: Cynthia Location: Va. Beach, VA on Apr 16, 2008 at 11:53 AM
To Friend of the Hardison's- If you are just a family friend why are you so concerned about a law suit, whether it be the Sheriff's Dept. or the Hardison Family, because I don't recall reading anything about an arrest being made or how the Hardison Family is directly related, so I ask, are you withholding evidence or do you know more than the general public.

Posted by: Family Friend Of Perry Family Location: Greater Hampton Roads on Apr 16, 2008 at 11:25 AM
To Family Friend of the Hardison's,THANK GOD FOR THE GOOD OH U S of A. It's our CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT. (Are you Afraid of a little oh lawsuit). SMILE...And you don't know anything about my respect, How did you pay yours.

Posted by: Friend of the Hardison's Location: Martin County on Apr 16, 2008 at 09:03 AM
To friend of the perry family: So because someone lost their life in a horrible way, big shocker here, you want money!! Wow, that sure is a great way to pay your respects!! Hmm, A family friend just got murder, let's see if they can get a LAWSUIT going (like I said before we live in a sue happy world) and get a little bit of money out of this!! Yeah, that sounds like a great idea! Way to think of yourself in such a time like this!!

Posted by: Friend of Family Location: Va. Beach, VA on Apr 16, 2008 at 07:34 AM
A message needs to be sent to the killer of Tyrone Perry letting him/her or them know that this kind of behavior will NOT be tolerated in MARTIN COUNTY, AND THAT A FULL SCALE INVESTIGATION BY THE POLICE AND SHERIFF DEPT. WILL CONTINUE UNTIL THIS CASE IS SOLVED.

Posted by: Friend of Perry Family Location: Greater Hampton Roads on Apr 15, 2008 at 06:48 PM
The right to sue was estasblished to protect those who become victims as a result of someone elses actions whether it be neglenct or intentional. Once justice has prevailed then someone should pay for Mr. Perry's untimely death. A MOTHER lost her son, A DAUGHTER lost her father, BROTHERS lost their brother, SISTERS lost their brother SONS lost their father, GRANDCHILREN lost their Grand parent, and the list goes on and on. So I ask, DO YOU NOT THINK THAT THIS FAMILY SHOULD NOT BE COMPENSATED FOR AN ACT THAT SOMEONE MADE THE CHOICE TO TAKE AWAY. This was not an act of GOD this was a act of man.

Posted by: Robert Powell Location: Virginia Beach, VA on Apr 15, 2008 at 04:39 PM
I am a close relative to the victim of this senseless murder. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for his/her prayers and comments. I am asking you to continue to post your comments and stay on top of this story because the family will not allow this murder to go unsolved. All we want is plain and simple justice.

Posted by: Friend of the Hardison's Location: Martin County on Apr 15, 2008 at 03:34 PM
how can you say it is a racial issue when you dont even know what is going on? Im sure you are just going on all the knowledge you have and making your best assumption as to what is going on. Do you not realize that the MARTIN COUNTY SHERIFF DEPARTMENT is the one who is holding information. Im sure if you were in Mr. Perrys' families shoes you would want to know what is going on, but do you want information so badly that it may hinder the investigation itself?! That is why nothing is being said, so the Sheriff Dept doesn't ruin their investigation and get a lawsuit on their hands with this sue-happy world we live in. You should really think about your argument before you present it to the public!!

A Black White thing????I'm sorry, but it is. This is just another black man found dead. If it were a white man,it would be different. Most definetely if it were a white woman...well go to Jacksonville...the tragic murder there of a white marine female.... Search your hearts and minds, and you will know that it is true. One question...If it were a white man.Would you have not heard more news coverage? And,if it were a white woman, the coverage of this story would be different. Mr. Perry, was no student body president of a major university, but his murder deserves attention.Eve Carson's murder ,ever so tragic it is,still gets news coverage. Do you have to be blond, blueyed,in the state of NC,to get attention to the fact you were murdered?Fact is ,you have to be blond, female, and pretty to get any attention to a brutal murder. Just another death...warrants no coverage.

I truly hope this doesn't turn into a black and white thing, Us country folk down here no better, Stand beside one another and stand up for each other regardless of a color, Im white and your mama should have raised you better if you are racist.I met the family of Mr.Perry, today fishing! What great people, I truly wish your family the best with getting this murder suspect into custody. I hope our Sheriff's department is working hard, let's try to give them the time they need to punish this person to the upmost, if they don't suceed then us tax payers need to rethink who we vote for!! I hope there is no snyper out and about on that farm, if so watch out! God bless this wonderful black family, from a good ole white family. We wish you the best, you are our neighbors, freinds, and a part of all of our lives if you like it or not deal with it and raise your own children right and to do the right thing when it comes to someone of a different color, treat them as you would like to be treated!

I am a family member and again applaud all the people who continue to post on this forum, we need to keep it going. Someone out there killed a very good man and the entire family is working hard to find his murderer and believe me, if it takes years, we will find out who did this. Yes, media coverage will help. As for those of you who feel you know who the killer is, right or wrong, we definitely appreciate you for just having the courage to speak out because we may not know who the killer is, but one thing we know is there's a killer out there somewhere and someone knows who he or she is and its those people who I feel sorry for because they have just as much blood on their hands as the actual killer has on his.

Posted by: S Location: Williamston on Apr 8, 2008 at 12:55 PM
My prayers goes out the family. Please find his murderer. Whoever did this hinderous act can hide from man but not from Jehovah God. In due season Jehovah will reveal the killer

Knowledge of evidence....Good Point..We have none, except we know where Mr. Perry was found(killed?) You mentioned pointing fingers..no we should not.You also mentioned ,the public should help Law Enforcement. I applaud that statement. If you have any knowledge of the crime or any knowledge of the suspects. MAKE A CALL TO THE SHERIFFS DEPT. Who knows, any small amount of info about the parties involved here may help. Hand it to the Law..You probably could do so anonymously.

Posted by: Jamie Location: Hamilton on Apr 8, 2008 at 11:51 AM
The News stations and Newspapers,in Eastern NC, do not go out investigating stories. We all know,as we watch the news, that there is no investigative reporting. The Washington Daily News used to do an excellant job of reporting the news. But,no more. All the media outlets do in eastern NC,is sit behind the desk and make phone calls. They report only what is told to them. They ask no hard questions. As a matter of fact, they ask very few questions. Crime is rampant in the East. And Law Enforcement knows the media will accept what they give them.No questions asked. One would think,That the job of the Media is to represent the public in the types of questions they ask of Law Enforcement. One could watch one news broadcast, channel 7 or channel 9,and know that the media ask no questions. Tis a shame. I ask this of WITN, how about some more cold case coverage. Possibly for crimes in the last year not solved. Start with the double homicide in Martin County.

Posted by: Elizabeth Location: Hamilton on Apr 8, 2008 at 07:18 AM
To posted by mw in hamilton, it seems that alot of people know who did it, but have no knowledge or evidence of the case. What we need to do is stop pointing fingers unless we know for sure who did it and try and help.

It is funny that WITN sometimes has no news coverage of murders or shootings in Williamston. The job of WITN is to find the stories not just call the police department and ask if any thing has happened. Maybe your news people need to pound the pavement instead of getting news from behind a desk while on the phone. Martin County is not safe at all. The 3 law enforcement branches need worry more about crimes like this instead of trying to harass people riding 4 wheelers on a Sunday.

There was a article in the Enterprise about this horrible cold blooded murder. The sherrifs dept. is asking for help in solving this case.I pray all people who have any knowledge will report it.The article made the point that the Martin COunty Sheriffs Dept. is working on this case. This forum has been very quiet since the article in Thurs.'s paper. Its obvious people just wanted to be reassured the case was not forgotten. My prayers go out to the Sheriffs dept.. To the family of Mr. Perry. Our prayers are with you and i have confidence there will be some closure for your family.

I am a close member of Tyrone Perry's Family and have been reading the comments sent by all. Although the family appreciates all the kind words and deep concerns expressed in some the comments, I personally am deeply saddened that this has become an issue of race. A MAN HAS BEEN MURDERED. A father, an uncle, a brother, a nephew and a friend to most everyone he met. His life was snatched away in a manner that no human being should have to endure. Our family has suffered a great lost. And to the citizens or Williamston and surrounding cities, Rest assured: It doesnt matter if the killer is black or white, justice will PREVAIL.

In this county a black mans murder gets no attention. The Black man gets attention when he is arrested. And arrested a plenty he is.As he should be if evidence points that way. Dead, in this place, no attention.

To the "Mr.in Robersonville blog"...............Yes everyone in Martin knows Mac Manning and his entire family. He is doing a good Job in Pitt County. We all know how sharp he is; And it is a shame he is not in this county.A crying shame we do not that type of intelligenge in our Sheriffs Dept. His entire family has served Martin County in one way or another for many years.the Mannings have served this county for a couple hundreds of years. Mr. Gibbs,no comment from him in the newspaper about anything.I'm sure he is working hard, however he needs a public relations person to let the county know he is there and working hard to solve crime. IS he there? My condolences to mr. Perry's family. Its just a terrible thing for you I truly am so sorry for you. God bless this Perry family.

Editor...how can you justify saying that comments began slowing down when there were 19 comments posted yesterday? That's more than some of the others on your most comments listing received. What struck me as curious was the fact that it was removed after a call for more publicity and action was made. Of course, now, that it has been removed from the most comments section posting will undoubtedly slow down but I urge my Martin County neighbors to keep posting. The story is still available through search. Do not let this whisk away like some of the other crimes in this County have.

The Martin County Sheriffs Dept. should look at WITN most viewed stories. The Martin County homicide case and the greenville murder are consistently the most viewed news stories. Martin residents know about the crime in Greenville.Gosh, someone is getting robbed or attacked in Greenville daily.I know a lot of Martin residents that do not shop in Greenville anymore because of the crime rate over there. We hear on the news about Pitt Sheriffs solving crimes all the time. The Sheriff over in Pitt is a Martin County boy.Be nice if he was here. In Martin County, we are in the country, and we like it.We stay out of the crime ridden cities,(Greenville) Now that crime has hit the country.Another murder. What about the killing in uptown Williamston. That happened on a busy street. The Drug task Force in our county ,doing a great job. But residents are frightened now.A killer is out there. I encourage the media to keep asking questions of the Law Enforcement.Ask about the double murder unsolved.

WITN...why was this topic removed from the "Stories with the Most Comments" section. With 80 comments, why isn't it listed second. Did I say something to have it removed so quickly? I am concerned that buttons are being pushed and the people of Martin County are being left in the dark.

Editor's Note: Story was up for about 10 days. Traffic began to slow down on story.

I think its appropiate for law enforcement to reassure the residents that they are working hard on this case.possibly let all know that investigators from the SBI are working with them...if they are? Don't forget the unsolved double homicide not so long ago. Never anything said by the police on that. Not slamming law enforcement Great bunch. But people how many murders are going to happen with no resolve

Posted by: Lynn Location: Williamston on Apr 2, 2008 at 07:49 PM
To Chris dated April,2 at 7:17pm, All I can say is you have hit the nail on the head. You pretty much have said it all.

People are really starting to get frustrated that a murder that, occured two weeks ago has been committed and all we have is a 4 sentence report posted on what is supposed to be "Eastern Carolina's Best" news station? It's been two weeks people and nothing. We need to support our law enforcement when possible, I agree, but we also need to demand some action. This county is getting a reputation and not necessarily a good one. Please...to any and all law enforcement and news bureaus...at least give us a progress report on the case. We don't want people thinking that Martin County is a county where people can get away with crimes of all sorts. If you need help from the citizens of the county, at least say so. Say Something!!

Posted by: Chris Location: Jamesville on Apr 2, 2008 at 06:58 PM
Resident from Williamston? What do you suggest we do to "take action" Enlighten us please!! Your comment was nice but please tell us what we can do to "pull resources together".

Going unsolved is par for the course in Martin County. If there is no valid witness to a crime here, you can usually forget getting the criminal.

Some of you on here need to get off your high-horses. You complain about this and you complain about that, always wanting to blame someone or something else. If you dont like the way things are going, then get out there and do it yourself, see how far you get with no one helping you or supporting you. There is a murderer on the loose and alls you people want to do is point fingers at the ones trying to solve the murder and give this family some peace of mind. Try pulling resources together for once instead of dividing everything.

WITN...You are on the air in the afternoon frOm 5:00 till 6:30.You also have your 30 minutes mid day report. And you are on the air in the morning also. You are on the air more than any other local network. How about some local investigative reporting. I watched you today at 12:00...DO YOU REALLY THINK ANYONE CARES ABOUT COLORODA..MARIJUANA BUST...OR PANTHER ATTACKS..WAS IT FLORIDA? Martin county has numourous unsolved murder cases.Might be a place for WITN to start. At the very least, an attempt from your station to ask questions, of local Sheriffs Dept's would increase your ratings. Knowledge is power. And you,the local media, do not serve the public in the knowledge arena. It's all "fluff" news.

Posted by: suzanne Location: martin co on Apr 2, 2008 at 12:09 PM
I am afraid if another murder case goes unsolved in Martin County that it will send a very bad message about the law enforcement in the county. A man is dead and the killer needs to be found!!!!!!!! I would hope that the law enforcement would not be intimidated by the suspect.

Posted by: concerned Location: Robersonville on Apr 2, 2008 at 11:53 AM
The sheriff is not on the ballot for this election. So..It appears the Martin County Sheriffs Dept. does not feel a need to comment. If it were an election year,I guarantee,THERE WOULD BE SOME COMMENT. The Enterprise,I believe local government writes it.The Board Of Education,The Sheriffs Dept...etc. write the Enterprise. The Enterprise does not ask questions. They report what they are told to report. NO questions asked................ One would think...witn,or the Daily Reflector is better. But they are disappointing also.If you do not rely on word of mouth for info. around here, you'll find out nothing. HENCE...............rumors.

We in these United States are blessed.thanks to Democracy. Their is a check and balance system at play in all aspects of our lives. In this case.i would challenge the media to question law enforcement.Law enforcement should embrace the media questioning them. They are employed by the public. They answer to us.The Sheriff is an elected official,as pointed out by angie. Is this just another unsolved murder in Martin County? The media ,which includes WITN,WNCT,The Daily Reflector, and the Enterprise....Are you asking any questions? There is nothing about this case anywhere (except WITN) Is their ever any investigative reporting? Or is it just headline news for all of you? Once you are off the headlines.NO NEWS.

To Anonymous MC 3/31 at 11:12 p.m. You hit the right spot. Tyrone's murder shouldn't be swept under the rug. His children and family deserve to know why he wron't be at his daughter's graduation or enjoy being a grandfather to her first child when that time comes, etc., etc. So many deaths that involve the black community have gone unsolved. We as a community, rather black, white or any should stand up for justice. It is time to stop looking at the color of a person skin and see by this death we all are made from the same. In regards to N on 4/01 I take it you are not black. It has always been about race. In the black community people don't talk because they are scared. History has taught them that telling can only cause them or their families pain. I wish the authorities would work harder to assure everyone that if you know something it is OK to speak out. N if you are black I am sorry you are ignorant to the issues that have faced our people for years.

My thoughts and prayers are with both families involved in this tragedy. I think it's ashamed that people are using this blog to talk about racism, point fingers and everything else that's going on. God help you all!!!

This is getting ridiculous.when is someone getting arrested for this? A man is dead. The public is waiting for an arrest. There is no news about this investigation.A man was murdered and found in broad daylight in the quiet town of Hamilton. The Sheriffs dept..Don't you think some statement is necessary. Even if you do not have a case yet. Reassure the public you are working on this case. Is there a Sheriffs election soon?

Posted by: Family Friend Location: Williamston on Apr 1, 2008 at 08:49 PM
As a close friend of Tyrone's family, I'm sure this is not what he would've wanted at all!!!! The fact of the matter is, the major concern should be finding the person responsible for this senseless crime!!! The focus should not be on other issues, such as black vs white, other unsolved crimes in Martin County, or the Hardison family. Some of the comments bear no relevance to the situation, rather, it's just inflicting more pain and stress on the Perry family. I lost an 18-year old family member in August of 2002 to violence, and trust me, controversy is the last thing on your mind. So, for the family's sake, let's just channel all of this negative energy into trying to solve his murder. As upsetting as it is already, please, try to respect his life and his memory by letting go of all the anger, hostility, finger-pointing, and name bashing, and "labeling." Instead of holding grudges from other unsolved murders in the county, which there are a few, let's stand together for Tyrone's sake!

You are right. If you know the lay of the land and where the body was found, it is not hard to figure out who did it. You can't just sneak onto this property.

Posted by: N Location: Williamston on Apr 1, 2008 at 04:36 PM
To x... I do agree with your statistics in regards to the crime in our county. And the fact that the black community is plagued with offenders and victims. But tell me why should blacks and whites take action to save black youths? There are white people committing crimes as well, who is to try and save our white youth? Or is it because there is more black crime that that makes it more important?

Posted by: CB Location: Jamesville on Apr 1, 2008 at 04:19 PM
Now that you guys have thrown race into the mix, let me comment. X....you partially hit the nail on the head in saying that the black community does need mentors and role models. However, I do not think the black community can do it alone. White people also need to do their share. Bigotry and racism runs rampant in Martin County. I've witnessed it first hand from law enforcement, business owners, etc. Some blacks (and yes I am black) tend to support the stereotypical behavior by behaving in certain ways but for the most part we do not!! I cannot blame a reader for feeling that we are discriminated against but I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and hope that this situation involving Mr. Perry does not involve the fact that he is a black man and the offender may be white. I chose not to believe that law enforcement would be that oblivious to facts and data to protect someone in the white community. I hope I am right for everyone's sake!!

Posted by: resident Location: wmstn on Apr 1, 2008 at 03:58 PM
to x...take action to save black youth? why not take action to save all youth in need, not just black. I dont understand why its all about the blakcs all the time.

Posted by: x Location: wmst for today on Apr 1, 2008 at 11:43 AM
To ED...spelling is not an issue here.If this is the only thing...spelling ..that has made you comment then you are not sympathetic.A man has been killed, another man has publically accused.Pain for all around. And the only thing that upsets you is spelling. get off your high horse and look at the issue here. Do you read? A good portion of people with high IQ's don't bother to spell correctly, and there handwriting is usually awful. So, bud, keep and open mind.People post even if you can not spell.Your opinions are valid here. i believe.

Posted by: x Location: wmst.and washington on Apr 1, 2008 at 11:35 AM
to N...The race card? .Maybe Race should be an issue in Martin County. The statistics will show most of the crime in our county is committed by African Americans. And most of the victims are Aricans Americans. I am not being racist by no means...However the Black communitte is plagued with offenders and victims. What can the black communitte do to remedy this in some way.And what can the White communittee do as well.Take a black youth to church,.mentor him. Don't just play the race card, all people black and white, should take action to save black youth. Its my understanding Mr. Perry took this to heart and had his own way of helping the black communittee.he tried, and I'm sure he planted a seed for goodness in some youths minds.

I absolutely am not critizing Law Enforcement.omeone said toi give the Law a break on this.Nope,NO BREAK ,and I'm sure the Sheriffs Dept. does not expect a break.Someone is dead and they want the killer..I believe they do the best job possible.I stated the Sheriffs Dept. is very understaffed for the amount of crime in Martin County. There should be no arguement on this point. However, Martin County is a poor county. We need more law officers but seems the money is not there.Or so we are told. They have assistance with their Drug task Force. As they should. The Drug Task Force has been an effective tool in the battle against drugs(and remarkable amounts of crimes associated with drugs). One would hope the Sheriffs dept. is getting assistance from the state on this homicide. I believe they are working hard and professionally on this case. They do not want another unsolved murder. The Sheriffs Dept., I'm sure, wants to give the Perry family some answers as to what happened to Tyrone.

Posted by: N Location: Williamston on Apr 1, 2008 at 09:52 AM
I dont understand why anyone has to bring race into this. Someone was killed, it doesnt matter what color they are, they lost their life and there is a family grieving. Our law enforcement is doing their job. Some crimes go unsolved because there are no leads or no one will come forward with information to assist. You cant blame law enforcement for citizens not coming forward. How are they supposed to solve a crime with no leads. They cant just go out and arrest someone without probable cause. Dont try and pull the race card on this one, its not going to work.

As a resident of Martin County I often wonder, why is it that a white persons murderer is almost always found and when it comes down to a African American muderer being found it's always left as a 'Cold-Case". Look @ the double homicide accross from EJ Hayes, nothing else has even been mentioned about that case. I guess that is just one of those cases where Law Enforcement is saying, Oh well we won't have to worry about him causing trouble anymore! Another case, 3 Local Teens found floating in the river? Lights goes out in Wmston. and all of sudden the truck is in the river??? Someone is withholding evidence and lots of information that could help some of these victims families. We ALL need to learn that we are ALL humans living in this 1 world and we should ALL be able to get along. HEAVEN IS NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS BY COLOR, SEX, NATIONALITY NOR WHO HAS THE MOST MONEY. It is time for us to realize that time is getting short and we are all here on borrowed time. Anyday could be your l.

To everybody, I am starting to fear this death may be swept under the rug. If that happens it would be the worst thing for all parties involved. To little coverage, public support is there, families invovled demand action, law enforcement don't want another unsolved death on the desk stairing at them, that would lower public confidence. this happen on a dirt road through one farm, crossing a creek to another farm. one way in one way out. A home directlly accross hiway from dirt road. the second farm 130 acers with fence around most of it. a stranger can't just ride up and shoot someone without thingking he would not be seen or someone coming up that dirt road behind him. Its time for farming to begin. forweelers, golfcart, vehicles, machinery, equipment allover. the lay of the land will not support sacurity of a clean get away, or assurance that other people may be on the farm. the entrance has a vidio survalance warning sign posted. whats up with this picture???

to x. one more thing the piont of being disgruntaled employee. I dont feel that way for my self. I have come along way in my life. grew up very poor. now, threw my familys hard work we live a good life. I can't make the claim I'm poor any more. But we work hard for that privlage. some of my coworkers in the industry are not so fortunate. The poor people are gods people in my eyes. some choose to be, thinking the world owes them or looking a hand out. Some addicted to drugs or alcahol or another substance. Some with some sort of mental ilness. Some are good workers, some are not. They all deserve respect. If they are not good workers or they just don't care their may be a reason. Respect that one enough tell him so and send him on his way man to man. No successful buisness can carry dead weight. If they don't respect that. Then they truely need help. contact someone who can help them or find them help It will make you feel good about yourself. Not dirrected just to you, but all of us.

To Sarabeth...This is not the time to give law enforcement "a break" as you say.Law Enforcement I'm sure undertands how important this is to the citizens of Martin County.A man was killed, and we want it solved.I'm sure Law enforcement is working very hard to do this. But no,law enforcement does not get a break here. And we as Americans have a right to post here.Last I heard there is a Bill of Rights. The Sheriffs Dept. is working hard,no doubt in my mind. However,They are ridiculously understaffed for the amount of crime in this county. Its good to see the Drug Task Force, and they are doing a good job. But no break.Ridiculous of you to ask for one. And to Concerned27.. Your post on March 30,11:49 was very well said and thoughtful. You may be disgruntled, but very sensitive to the fact a co-worker was murdered. You mentioned some points that got my attention.

X...I too am a business owner. However I do not have to worry about people turning against me if I don't have the same views as they do. I fully understand your position and respect your honesty.

To x and Sarabeth; I know what a FEIN is I was giving a brief defanition to other blogers that asked without revealing to much about how I know sorry if something so trivial thumbed a chord. to self employed it can be used as { SSN } If you employ others and deduct and match that amount as required you need to have the employee's { SSN } and turn it in under your FEIN. If I am wrong who cares. I'm not giving a buisness course. I did not say any certain indavidual murdered anybody. Do I have to plaster it in bold letters???????? I just think you guys are missing my piont. THERE HAS BEEN A MAN KILLED ON A JOB SITE. I have an idea after the investigation of Tyrone's death, let there be an investigation of employee's wrights being violated. That way Mr. x can buff off every employee that gives a testamony. He can show up as we all testify. I Don't know if an employer is responsible for provideing drinking water on a job site several miles from a source. Every other logger does. one cooler

Posted by: concerned 27 on Mar 30, 2008 at 05:54 PM
chris I read one of your blogs bring light to x. You hit the nail on the head. He said he is a buisness owner. He thinks I am a disgruntaled employee. I think he mis the whole point I was making. I QUIT several times as a employee. Sometimes not because I was the misteated. sometimes I staid because a family member strait out of Highschool was working their, and quit after they found another job. My hands are shack and emotions running high thinking of it. Anybody who knows me knows I don't kick a man when he's down. I lend a hand up. sorry if I come off to veig on my coments, I feel I have reason.

Posted by: Sarabeth Location: Williamston on Mar 30, 2008 at 01:14 PM
To everyone typing into the blog have we stop to think that the people we are accusing have been questioned, tested or whatever method the law does doing an investigation has been done? I'm sure this is not Martin County Sheriff's first time doing an investigation, do you? Have you stopped to think the local law enforcement have family(ies) who live in Martin County also. Give them a break do something besides complain. To concerned March 27 on March 30 you must not know much about an employers id number because it can also be your social security number used for the same purpose.

It is everyone's right to choose whether to reveal their name. This is a public forum. The owners of the websight post the rules. I can not reveal my name because i own a business. We all have our reasons, and that should be respected. However,I do believe in responsible dialogue.Accusations of MURDER based on no evidence is irresponsible,in my opinion.

If you know someone well enohg to know what kind of thoughts go threw thier mind you say you know them well. If you think they are capable of their thoughts, thats frightening. Any one who know a man, man to man. Hardison will say what is on his mind, good or bad, or in many cases ugly. If I REVEAL MY ID it will be to the police or a judge or a court room and it will be on record. I don't know what any man is capable of not even my self. Many people interprate things diffrently. I'm not personally attack any one and clarifing my coments as best I can to so many differrent blogs I my vews are understud as intended. I hope the correct kill is found, tried, convicted to strictest letter of the law. There is still the fact of his opporatioal standards, attitude of employees. He said he thought it was a work related injury well that brought his compony in the matter. If you never witnessed that kind of work enviroment you are blessed.

To Ronnette...My condolences to you and your family. Your Uncle Tyrone has a reputation of being a really good man.His high school friends speak very fondly of him.Since this tragedy I have heard a great deal about him.I have not heard one negative thing. He was obviously very well thought of in the community of Martin County. I truly believe the Sheriffs Dept. is working hard on this case.I pray they find the monster that did this. The people of Martin County want Justice.

None of the statements I made on my blog were untrue. Damageing they may be, but true. I QUITE when I should have stud up and done something for my coworkers, that is on my shoulders a burden this death has has made to heavy. FEIN means FEDERAL EMPLOYMENT IDENTIFACATION NUMBER. That is a tax numer for a self emploed or employer of others. That is how an employeer is required to withdrawl taxes for an emploees pay and match that ammount and send to IRS, without that you look for a job and see how other good employers run a buisness, if you don't take the first thing that comes your way for reasons like bills, bordumn, or being young, unwise, and selling yourself and your abilities short. trust me nobody will forget Tyrone!!! I'm shore the reason there is little information on this case is becouse investigators will try to have an open and shut case before an arrest is made. some of my best freinds are law enforcement in martin county and they are not going to let the cat out of the bag.

Although its been quite some time since I've last seen my Uncle Tyrone and other family members in the NC/VA regions, I do remember that he was a life loving, laid back, level headed, patient, humble and respectful guy. Anyone who knew Tyrone knows that this type of violence, excuse me, ANY type of violence against him was completly unnecessary. I do know that we the family have a right to bring attention to this injustice as we see fit. As a family/community we need to band together-this is not limited to blood because in many cases we spend more time on our jobs with co-workers than we spend with our biological family. I spoke in defense of JUSTICE.In this wonderful democracy we live in,(Which by the way gives you and I the right to speak or type),A person is entitled to a fair trial. Slandering someones name is a crime. This responsible dialogue,(no accusations based on no evidence),will hopefully motivate law enforcement to find the person responsible.Do we in Martin County want another unsolved murder? I of course feel for the deceased family.I hope this responsible dialogue gives the Perry family some comfort.People do care.

To x from washington: I hardly find that your comments were "simple statements". You responded totally in defense of the publicly accused and talked very little about the deceased. And I do find it offensive to tell people that their time would be better utilized finding a good job. You don't think that is offensive? Apparently, you took to heart my statements but those statements weren't intended solely for you. It was intended for all of those who use these posts to rip others (included the person who called interested people in this community nosy). Let's remember the victim and hopefully law enforcement will prosecute and convict the perp in this case.

Chris of Greenville....I appreciate the fact that law enforcement can not release any information on this horrible crime. The beginning of your post sounded professional. You should not call people of Martin County nosy about this crime.Residents are concerned about a brutal murder. There have been many shootings recently in our county and residents have a right to know(if it does not hinder an ongoing investigation). I pay taxes in Martin county,so please remember that law enforcement works for the taxpayers. WAS ANYONE EVER ARRESTED FOR THE SHOOTING ACROSS FROM HAYES SCHOOL? WE,the taxpayers, do not want another unsolved murder.

I am just responding to some peoples request that we post "facts" about a crime that is being investigated. We as "Law Enforcement" Do no give the media 100% of the information regarding the crime for several reasons. (1) we have to investigate those crimes to establish the facts. (2) If information about the case gets out, when we interview or interrogate a suspect/witness they should not have knowledge or details about this case unless they are/were involved in some fashon or another. If we plastered everything for you nosey people it would RUIN a murder investigation. So for all of the NOSEY people that are more
