WITN's Audrey Washington conducted an exclusive one-on-one interview with Senator Barack Obama during his stop in Fayetteville.
Obama said the Iraq war has left the United States less safe. He says
the war has encouraged al-Qaida, the Taliban, Iran and North Korea. Obama says "the war has cost us 12 billion dollars a month that we could be investing in America and I think its very important that we rebuild a strategy that goes after Al Qaida."
Obama says if elected he would start bringing the troops home one to two brigades each month.
When it comes to taxes, Obama says, "I want to give a middle class tax cut to people making $75,000 a year or less, put more money in their pockets to deal with rising costs."
Obama also criticized Democratic rival Hillary Clinton and likely
Republican nominee John McCain. Obama says they talk tough on
national security but make decisions that leave the country less
secure.
