Sex Offender Accused Of Sex Crimes Against Children As Young As 3 Years Old Save Email Print

A registered sex offender from Carteret County is accused of exposing himself to children between the ages of 3 and 12 years old.

Jimmy Brown was arrested today by sheriff deputies. Investigators say Brown knew all his victims and is also accused of other incidents of assault and indecent exposure that date back to last August.

Brown lived on Old Mill Road in the Mill Creek area of Carteret County.

The state's sex offender web site says the 46 year old man was arrested in 2006 for two counts of indecent liberties with a minor and served a year and two months in prison. He was released last February.

Brown's new charges include 14 counts of indecent liberties, 12 counts of assault on a child under twelve, 9 counts of simple assault, 7 counts of indecent exposure, and 18 counts of trespassing.

Deputies say Brown is also accused of breaking into a neighbor's vehicle and also trying to break into that neighbor's home.

He is in the Carteret County jail on a $207,500 secured bond.

HOW SAD FOR THE CHILDREN. HOWEVER THIS IS AGAIN A PROBLEM WTHIN OUR JUSTICE SYSTEM. FOR THE SORRY ATTORNEYS WHO DEFEND THEM AND FOR THE STATE THAT PROVIDES FREE ATTORNEYS TO DEFEND THESE PEOPLE, YOU JUST WAIT UNTIL SOMETHING AWFUL HAPPENS TO ONE OF YOUR LOVED ONES. THEN SEE HOW IT FEELS.

I cannot believe that someone could say that people are the the sex offender registry that "did nothing wrong at all" !!

Posted by: joe stroud Location: morehead city on Feb 1, 2008 at 10:51 PM
One day i hope that the legislators will realize these people cannot be helped. They should never see the light of day again. Since this will never happen, anyone ever released should not only be registered but should have to wear an ankle bracelet for life. This cost should be borne by the criminal and not the taxpayer. As a society just how long are we going to keep letting these perverts abuse our children?

Ya know I will agree on the thoughts of all of you as long as he did do these crimes. But I cannot stand to hear such comments out of people that haven't a clue whether he actually did or not. I do not know him. I do not know whether he is guilty or not. But I can guarantee I am not going to judge whether he is or not based on him being on that stupid flawed registry or on other people's opinions. I judge after the whole story is out from his mouth and the accusers. It is supposed to be innocent until proven guilty not guilty until proven innocent. You people make me sick. Half of that registry is full of people that did nothing wrong at all. They either were falsely accused by some conniving ex or on their for "being a teenager". I mean that in the sense of teenagers will do stupid things once in a while. Parent need to look after their kids more rather than expect everyone else to look out for their kids. Most parents are guilty of not paying enough attention.

DO NOT put this man in a prison and waste our tax money. Instead, tie him to a tree in the center of that town, lay a pile of assorted tools and weapons on the ground beside him and let the victims and their families have at him. That is the rightful justice that can be served. Garbage such as this thing is not worth wasting our taxes on supporting him in our jail systems.

Why do we always blame the police dept. What about the attorneys who represent this scum? The P.D. is doing their job, they find them, arrest them, put them in jail and then some sorry #%* attorney comes along to say we need to let them out on bail & believe it or not there is a judge dumb enough to agree to it. If it were their mother, wife, daughter or granddaughter who were molested by these perverts, you could bet your bottom dollar, they wouldn't be released! They have NO rights after they hurt our children, or anyone for that matter. Make them wear a GPS system so they can be tracked constantly. Brand them with something so visible, everyone will know. Why on earth would anyone worry about their legal rights, they were lost the moment they chose to do this dispicable deed. Our legal system is far too soft on these offenders, do we really care how comfy they are in prison? Think about it, they actually have it better than many hard working families with 3 meals, health care, etc.

ive known about jimmy brown for years, since i first lived in millcreek. im hoping he gets the maximum punishment for this. all of this needs to stop. and not just with this one individual. all sex offended cases need to be handled way more seriously than they are. and i totally agree with "J" and Devil Dog.

It is sick for someone to want to mess over a child. I feel like they should lock him under the jail for a crime like this. The judge should give someone like him life in child because that is just like murdering someone to mess up a child's life. If he did it before and was let out of jail and he has done it again then that let you know that he really doesn't care who he hurts and should be kept locked up

i agree with all the points but don't blame the police department, they did their job. police have no controll over the time the purve gets. what we need to be worried about who takes office in january.

I agree with Devil Dog. This is the time to take action against the PERVERTS. He is a sick person and prison time did him no good. Also see new info that he says he didnt do it. I guess all of his neighbors lied. That is why I do check the SEX OFFENDER registry to see what is close to my neighborhood. It doesn't hurt to know what is going on around you. Everyone should be aware and protect our children from such slime. J from NC made a good point as well. I bet that would stop these people. He should have never been released in the first place.

I feel that Jimmy Brown should be locked up and the key thrown away.He should not be in society at all. This news cast should find something better to report on!

Posted by: Lucille Location: NC on Jan 30, 2008 at 02:30 PM
This individual is very sick. The time spent in prison eventually wasn't long enough and he didn't learn anything from it. We want our children to move forwrd in life and mess like this is a set back.

Posted by: Devil Dog Location: New Bern on Jan 30, 2008 at 01:29 PM
It's time to elect CONSERVATIVE Judges who will invoke max punishment to the PERVERTS. Our society is in a sad state of affairs.

Posted by: J Location: NC on Jan 30, 2008 at 11:51 AM
When are we going to start protecting our children, instead of the offenders. The word "castration" comes to mind....I bet that would end a lot of this kind of thing happening, as well as free up our legal system, and our jails. In my opinion, sex offenders have no rights, they gave that away the day they took away the rights of their victims.

how can our police dept.. keep letting things like this happen to our kids and familys they should keep him in jail and any body else that does this kind of thing they are sick people ,its just a pat on tha back for them .if our police dept. really cared for us and our familys they would make sure they couldnt hurt our children nor longer keep there butts in jail, they are very sick people in tha world. we need to protect our childern from further happens, like i said putting them in jail is patting them on tha back they know its 3 meals a day ,i fill they should suffer and put away so they cant hurt no one else....

Posted by: Renee Location: G'ville, NC on Jan 30, 2008 at 09:40 AM
They need to lock him up and throw away the key.

Posted by: Sarah Location: NC on Jan 30, 2008 at 08:22 AM
What a nasty human being...he needs to be locked away forever. How sick!!!

Posted by: Ally Location: NC on Jan 29, 2008 at 07:46 PM
Now.... should we let him back into society ever again?????
