  • Some psych patients wait days in ERs

** FACES BLURRED IN VIDEO PROVIDED BY THE NYCLU ** In this still photo taken from video provided by the New York Civil Liberties Union, Esmin Green lies face down on the floor in the psychiatric ward of the Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y., Thursday, June 19, 2008. Green, 49, had been waiting in the emergency room for nearly 24 hours when she toppled from her chair at 5:32 a.m. and lay writhing, face down on the floor. Security guards and a member of the hospital's staff appeared to notice her prone body, but made no visible attempt to see if she needed help. Within an hour she was dead. (AP Photo/New York Civil Liberties Union)When staffers at a Brooklyn hospital spotted a middle-aged woman lying face-down on a waiting room floor last month, it hardly seemed like cause for alarm.

I am curious why the news uses a pit looking dog for a heading picture when doing this type of article? Most bites occur from little breeds and over 30% are not reported. Cocker Spaniels are rising in the top 5 now for dog bites. Labradors held the # 2 position for many years! Muts are in general always #1. Where does the pit come in at? Well below all of the above. The media should not misconstrued the truth!!

I am a proud owner of two pits they have never ever had a bad temper. Why blame the dogs for the things that the people TRAIN them to do... Its not the dogs , if ya think about it all dogs or animals have a potential of attacking or hurting someone or something, it is all on the people whom train these wonderfull animals to turn on others!

This ban is crazy i have 4 p[its age 4yr, 2 1/2 yr,8mon, and 5 mon. And i also have a 1 year old daughter. This ban is CRAZY AND SHOULD NOT BE PASSED. BAN the DEED NOT the BRRED

I think this ban is absolutely CRAZY!!! I am a proud owner of a 10 month old pitbull, who is the sweetest thing. He wouldn't hurt a fly. He plays well with kids and other animals. It's not the dog. It is the way the dog is trained and taught. ANY dog can be aggressive if trained to be that way. People should look in to this more. Go to YouTube, they have plenty of videos of Pomeranians attacking, Min Pins, Chihuahuas, beagles, and many other dogs. Ban the DEED not the BREED!!!!

This is insane!!! i have a 2 yr old pitbull and i used to have a rottie but i gave him away to my mother so she would have a great dog!!! My pitbull is the sweetest dog towards my family and others, then only time he's ever bit anyone is playing. People need to see its not just pitbulls its other dogs and those other dogs people would just say oh well they were brought up wrong!! why cant people just say that for pitbulls? ITS NOT THE DOGS ITS THE OWNERS!!! my god i mean seriously i have a 3 month old son and my dog sits there and watches him in awe! The people that are doing this are wrong, see what your really doing your taking an family member away from the family!

I think this dog ban, is CRAZY!! I am a PROUD owner of a 1yr old pitbull. YOu can ask anyone he is the sweetest loving dog ever! he has never showed any aggression towards anything! he loves children and other dogs. all he wants to do is play! An i think it would be very unfair for people like myself to be made to get rid of there dog ! its not the dogs its there owners, all the dogs that have bitten people should be adopted off to a better family, an there original owners should be the ones put to sleep!! If your going to ban an aggressive dog you should ban the chihuahua! all chihuahuas are aggressive!!

Oh and they just had to include a pic of a pitbull/amstaff type of dog.

its aw shame that the breed would have to be punished for the deed of the owner. Its like being at war u get aw command and you follow it out to the end.Lets start blaming the ones giving the command and training for these actions.

Punish the deed not the breed. We dont ban people who go out and assault people or kill them.
