It seems like nearly every day we hear about a new medical breakthrough that could make our lives better. It's hard for even the oldest people to remember when the cure was sometimes worse than what ailed you. But Country Rover Tom Skinner found a place where the the early days of rural medicine is well documented.

It's a museum like no other and it's located in the Nash County town of Bailey. The Country Doctor Museum documents the history of medicine and the men and women administering to patients in rural America.

The Country Doctor Museum is part of the East Carolina University Medical Foundation. It's open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 to 4. There is a small charge for admission and the last guided tour is at 3pm.
