One local woman has been recognized for her work as an advocate for parents with developmentally disabled children as well as for her own accomplishments as a parent of a child with special needs. Country Rover Tom Skinner brings us her inspiring story.

Sometimes the challenges we face in life can be stumbling blocks. But for Naomi Howard, being the mother of a developmentally disabled child, has been a building block. She just completed her batchelors degree and she's set her sights on graduate school. But that's just part of Howard's success story. At a recent conference on developmental disabilities, Naomi was awarded the Outstanding Parent Award.
