The Beaufort County Red Cross is holding its fifth annual "Spring Fling" dinner dance.

The "Spring Fling" is a major fundraiser for the Beaufort County Red Cross Chapter.

The dinner-dance will be held Friday, April 4, at the Washington Civic Center. It starts at 6:30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. The event includes a silent auction and dancing to the Craig Woolard Band.

Red Cross representatives explain why they need your support.

"The Beaufort County Chapter of the American Red Cross continues to be here to serve the residents of our county only through the help received from generous supporters like you. Many people do not realize that we receive no funding from the National Red Cross and must raise all of our funds on a local basis. Even though we were fortunate in 2007 to have a mild hurricane season, home fires were on the rise and our Chapter was there to help 12 families in Beaufort County who lost their homes. We want to be ready for whatever this year brings for our community, and we need your help to do that."
