Ready for dogs on parade?
The Pamlico Animal Welfare Society, or PAWS, is holding its third annual Dog Parade on Saturday, March 29 in the Pamlico County town of Oriental.
You can start registering your pooch at 10 a.m. or just come out and watch the parade at 11 a.m. The awards ceremony for several different categories will be held at noon.
Registration is $5.00 for the first dog in a family or group and $2.00 for each additional dog.
This is an exciting event. Last year, 120 dogs took part!
Judging will be in at least 13 categories:
• Most Look Alike
• Smallest
• Biggest
• Best Costume
• Best Behaved
• Most Paid Bribes
• Funniest
• Longest Tail
• Shortest Tail
• Cutest Puppy
• Most Unusual
• The One the Judges Fell in Love With
There will also be a "Grand Prize" -- Best in Parade.
All the money raised by the parade will be used in the PAWS spat and neuter, educational and food distribution programs.
