Drought Worsens

Exceptional and extreme drought conditions have moved back into parts of Eastern Carolina.

Parts of Nash and Wilson fall under the exceptional category, where as, Duplin, Pitt, Lenior, Edgecomb, Wayne, and parts of Wilson and Halifax are in an extreme drought.  Coastal counties continue to fair better with conditions falling in the moderate drought.

Here are a few rainfall deficits across our area for the year so far...

Elizabeth City -19.82",    Hatteras -19.74",     New Bern -15.09"  The forecast tonight calls for scattered showers, but it will likely be just a drop in the bucket.  We are only expecting around a tenth of an inch.

Happy Thanksgiving...Jennifer Harcher

why are people with wells exempt from water restrictions? all water comes from some underground source. one persons abuse can cause others to have their wells run dry.
