It's good to be coming back......
Viewers grow attached to shows… and often wonder “what happened” to these shows when they disappear from the air.

The recent writer’s strike did a marvelous job of messing up the Primetime schedule, but there is good news to report.

Kip from Greenville, a fan of the show ‘Life’ that debuted on Wednesday nights last fall, wrote recently to ask, “any idea when I might see a new episode of ‘Life’?”

We also heard from Myra over in Wilson. Myra’s show is ‘Friday Night Lights’ and she wrote to say, “Please tell what has happened to Friday Night Lights? Why isn’t it on your Friday night lineup anymore?”

I have good news for both Kip and Myra. NBC is bringing back both shows, but on slightly different schedules.

The programming brass at NBC did something very unique this spring.

They announced the fall schedule early. They also announced the winter and summer schedule at the same time. That’s the summer of 2009, more than a year away!

The show ‘Life’ will be back in the fall on Friday nights at 10pm. ‘Chuck’, ‘Heroes’, ‘Law & Order: SVU’, ‘ER’ and ‘Deal or No Deal’ will also be back.

‘Friday Night Lights’ will be back on Friday nights at 9:00pm when winter rolls around. Imagine that, waiting to air a show about Friday night high school football until after the “real” Friday night football schedule has ended!

NBC plans on giving us new programming year round… for 52 weeks. The excitement is already building for the return of ‘American Gladiators’ and ‘Nashville Star’ on Monday nights, and ‘America’s Got Talent’ and ‘Last Comic Standing’ later during the week

All new shows. All designed to get you ready for 08-08-08… the day the Summer Olympics open in Beijing, China.

If only NBC would leave us enough time in between to enjoy a nice, quiet summer vacation!
